Im not so sure whether it is completely new or not, but everything is included, even the screen protector that comes with
the original unit, it stills smell new!
I guess it must a customer cancel order, as there is no any defect for now. smile.gif
But I am going to upgrade the CPU and GPU of this beast sooner or later anyway. biggrin.gif
Thanks PF T.J, been waiting for so long, feel satisfied able to own it with my own money, really grateful. nod.gif

Somebody just advice me that my M14x is a waste of money and i should get an Ipad instead. then he goes on with his preaching about the advantage of ipad over the windows. clearly he's no gamer.
*
Well, you can tell him that nasi lemak is more important than the ipad cause without eating anything, a person will starve to death laugh.gif
And iPad is not a laptop, and a laptop is not a tablet... no point comparing things that are not of the same category doh.gif
Mind sharing your m14x's specifications? Certain upgrades are not worth getting

Haha thanks man, maybe one of the cheapest upgrade is to get the second HD5870M first, already got the part number for the fan, Xfire cable, heatsink, and the GPU itself,
found one on ebay, to upgrade to Dual HD6970 I think my wallet is not deep enough for now. laugh.gif
*
Hard to say leh... a CPU upgrade might be useful for your case as well since the previous Arrandale processors are not clocked that high and iinm, are not that good for gaming..
Based on some articles, it appears that SB i7 brings about a huge performance leap from the Arrandale i7... hmm.gif
Choices choices brows.gif
Good thing both can be upgraded~ thumbup.gif

14" WLED HD+ Display (1600x900)
1.5GB DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM
750GB 7200RPM Hard Drive

I'm thinking of getting SSD when the fund is available. the normal hard disk kinda bottleneck the performance.
*
Wise configuration bro thumbup.gif
yea, getting an SSD will help reduce the heat on the lower left palm rest alot laugh.gif

Chill guys, different people have different needs on their laptop nod.gif
I would say almost 100% of ppl who sees my specs in forums/NBR would say I'm an idiot as well laugh.gif But then my M14x serves me exactly the way I wanted it to for my work, so its still worth it smile.gif

We can never really keep up with tech advancement laugh.gif
And yes, upgrading can be so damn expensive sad.gif

Again, it all depends on a person's requirements icon_rolleyes.gif

Right click the dvd from my computer and choose eject?

+1, if that still doesn't work...
Wait for a few minutes before using the eject button again, keep on trying and it'll eventually come out laugh.gif
It seems AW laptops have the tendency to "consume" pirated CDs XD

I've went to Dell Mid Valley yesterday and got my hands on Qosmio X770. It's about 2kg lighter then the M17x, which is about the same size. which make me wonder, why M17x are so heavy?
*
Better Build and better design. The larger Alienwares can be upgraded with newer hardware which is not possible in the other notebooks (apart from Sager) nod.gif
Summore them bling-blings will at least weigh something right brows.gif

To M14x users, do take note that the BIOS A05 version is out, which reduces the fan noise of the M14x's hair dryer laugh.gif
You guys should try it out hehe~

open my M14x during a meeting. almost everyone there took a glance at me. i wonder is it because of the light show or the hair dryer sound  laugh.gif
*
wah, you never off the lights during meeting? notworthy.gif notworthy.gif
I closed all the lights apart from the Alienware logo and head lights, as well as the touchpad lights laugh.gif
The hair dryer sound probably attract a lot of attention as well (especially when in the library)
But then, after flashing the latest BIOS, the fans is quieter to almost non-existent already (apart from when on load) wub.gif

I don't understand, what is the gaming with that spec?

If you want to define gaming by the thickness, well I don't see how its relevant. If specs, then yes.

What issue? the noisy fan? how can the bios fix the fan noise? by making it running slower? i hope not. I remember when i use a desktop with GTX 8800. The fan is quite noisy. then i replace it with another fan which i don't remeber the brand. it's not just quieter, but i notice the heat also build up more slowly then before.
*
Yeah, the latest BIOS update silenced the fan, or sort of just make the fan not changing rotation speed abruptly hehe, and temps were not affected.
Do refer to my previous post in this thread for the link~

If you do like that, won't the heat trapped on the screen ?
*
True that, closing the lid will prevent proper heat dissipation, especially when the hottest area is around the Alien power button [where the hinges are]...
Unfortunately the opening angle for the M14x is not that wide, which may pose a problem as well lol sad.gif

Hinges issues are only widespread on the AW M11x R1 and R2 nod.gif
So no problems there ^^
The Quality of AW laptops are still top notch thumbup.gif You'd be surprised at how solidly build they are~

You've probably heard of all the good things about the M14x,
Now some known issues:
