got a used m17x r3 from US, friggin worst deal ever, the GPU will overheat up to 90C, when i open the case, i found out the f**king thermal pad was placed on the wrong surface, thank god i bought some new thermal paste and did a repaste, now the machine is performing up to expectations.
still though, i wasted 4 days to get everything up to my expectations http://i.imgur.com/lrpni.jpg i got more horror stories left speaker has buzzing sound, i had to strip the whole laptop down to barebones to glue 2 piece of papers togather, the buzzing is caused by the paper touching the speakers missing screws missing cmos cap/holder ... QUOTE(kelvin_hata @ Jul 24 2011, 01:12 AM) u buy from local dealer or direct from US?? yea just use the international transfer form at dell's site. it's actually immediate if you already have a dell account. i bought my m11x from malaysia dell so they could transfer it easily.haha, u r the 4th person complain about US set. I slightly regret getting the m17x r3, the US seller was not an honest person. I shoulda went ahead with one of the more reputable resellers ie: HIDevolution but i wanted to get it cheap so i went ahead with the used one. still has bout 11months of warranty too. |

QUOTE(PirateKing @ Jul 16 2011, 10:02 PM) Hello guys, I got a few questions and need some advice. anyone can help me? I got problem with Dell community..It so confusing to use dell community -.-Last week my hard disk corrupt, so Dell people come to my house and replace the new hard disk for free. He only help me to install the window for me and tell me to install the driver from resources DVD. As far I remember , I saw many thread on internet about Alienware that not recommended to install Alienware Command Center from resources DVD so i decide to download the driver from here: Dell Driver Page So first I decided to use Dell download manager (never use before) and they ask to Install Microsoft .Net Framework. I download the latest (Microsoft .Net Framework 4) here : Filehippo.com Then I can use the Dell Download Manager already and I download both 2 files under application which are Command Center and OSD application. After I install both files, I restart my laptop and this from Microsoft .Net Framework error come out : CODE See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at QUOTE(kelvin_hata @ Jul 24 2011, 01:45 PM) how much u bought it? wat spec? heh that 6870m is the reason why your lappy is cheap, it's on par with a GTX460, but i wanted the 6970m and if you go to dell's us site you'll find it's a 250USD upgrade, the 6990m is a 300USD upgrade, maybe i should have waited a bit. i jus get the good deal for Refurbish Unit by Dell Malaysia Alienware m17x -r3, normal spec @ rm5399 only I bought for about 1900 USD including shipping with 8GB ram and 6970m, the rest is stock spec. but of course i had to deal with alot of issues with the seller and this piece of shit of a machine before i can fully enjoy it. QUOTE(duabijitelur @ Jul 25 2011, 10:34 AM) yep, using Artic MX-4 from one of the lowyat sellers. first time doing it too, was easier than i thought. I would never try repasting the G73, too much hassle to get to the GPU. love alienwares easy access and upgradability. |
