For SQ, I would rather leave the rear section without any speakers. You're not watching a movie where surround sound is important right?

But if you're thinking of pleasing the rear passengers also, a pair of 2-way or 3-way coaxial is enough, but make sure they don't distract the sound from the front.

We have the same taste of music, mainly metal.

For rear subs, a 10" is sufficient enough. Regarding soft or hard bass pounding, it depends on how you tune the sound too. I set my rear amps level control to lower range so the bass sounded soft a bit.

metal should have SQ also... if not how to listen to 'discreet' guitar effects and the high pitch screaming by the vocalist laugh.gif

mADmAN,

any idea how to install component set midbass into my EF hatch door? should I take off the door cover first to allow the cable go through the 'proper' route?

Coz I was thinking of installing one myself blush.gif

soulfly.....for my ex-EF i took out the entire door panel and installed my 6 1/2" comps... u running on EF9 door panels or EF3? mine i think was the suede door panels from a CRX EF8

be careful about the magnets though....you might have to put some sort of 'washer' for the speaker screws to avoid the magnet hitting the glass (depending on the size of your magnets la)....i did mine using cut outs from carton boxes....looked fugly as hell without the door panels biggrin.gif

oh and the standard holes might not be fit with the comps as well....prepare some self tapping screws and a cordless drill

I'm using EF9 door panel on my EF.

I found out that most component set around has quite big magnet compare to the OEM EF speaker, afraid they might interfere with the window glass

Maybe the hardest part is to channel the speaker wire through the correct path sweat.gif

Dudes, need some help here.

Budget: RM400-600
Type of song: Chinese pop, RnB, English Pop
Preference: Sound Clarity

Right now I'm driving a Satria GTi, both left speakers (front and rear) are spoilt. Damn annoying scraping sound when the bass kicks in from certain songs. I just changed a Kenwood HU, and now planning to change all the speakers.

What is your recommendation? Do I need to get an amp? Or just get 4 speakers + 2 tweaters will do?
To make it simple, the speakers for front and rear are need to be replaced isn't it?

If you want a nice clear sound, I would say you will need:
- 1 set component speakers, placed at the front
- 1x 10" subwoofer with ported enclosure, placed in the trunk
- 4ch amp

This will be the most basic setup, SQ setup can be achieved depends on the quality of the parts and your speaker placement.

But with RM400-RM600, I think the most you can get is a set of nice component set, and probably cheapo amps. You can power your components direct from the HU but the sound quality wont be that good at higher volume, and you'll miss lower freq bass sound. But you can slowly adding other stuffs later on.

as simple as it sounds... recommend me a decent pair of 6"x9" coaxial speakers? i'm not sure about the budget, but looking at output around 30~60W RMS.

it should be at least comparable to Proton Persona stock rear speakers.

you really should state your budget, however since you're not, id recommend at least 600-800ish budget, get a decent component set and you're good to go for your journey on ICE smile.gif

are you into SQ/SQL/SPL btw?

if you're into SQ, you can pretty much forgo the rear speakers, maybe keep it low if you want to still let rear passengers listen. (though if you're one whos really into sound quality, you will understand fast that good component set speakers will entirely destroy normal stock proton speakers rofl.

I don't want SQ or SPL. My ears aren't exactly fussy with this kind of stuffs, but I just want my passenger to be able to listen music clearly. Need a replacement speaker for my old AE92 Corolla which is busted already.

Like I mentioned before, my standard is pretty low... that is something like Proton Persona basic rear 6x9 speakers, which I think sound quite decent compare to most other car's stock speakers. Surprisingly I can feel the music like coming from the front, although it's just rear speakers (Persona basic does not have door speakers). It's bassy enough for some Kpops, and decent midrange for some metal.

When you said you want 30~60rms speakers, how do you come up with that figure? Anything prompted you to go for speakers with such specs?
*
because common HU output is around 45~50W rms?
