any recomendation for a hu that is less than rm1200? looking at drx786usb which is in my budget. read some reviews and also listen to this unit paired with some polk audio high end comps in a shop. kinda like it but wanna leave my options open for others as i will only be installing end of ths month. right now i just need a hu as i dont have funds for others. in future i want a component and a sub and a 4 ch amp. for comp, i am thinking of k2p, sub xls or xxls and amp zapco 360.4 or focal 4.75 if al this are compatible. new to ice here. appreciate advise.

it's better than 9887 as many users said. i personally neva owned or heard 1 b4, but reviews are all positive so far.

any seconders to this statement?

can anyone tell me how much is a new unit 7100?

and please educate me on IMPRINT. have read many places about it but i dont understand what is it that makes a hu with IMPRINT special.

new unit of 7100 shud be abt 1.5k, imprint is about a processor(H100) which can do auto tuning, makes life easier for those who can't tune themselves.

Thanks mate.

Personally owned the Alpine 9887 before. With Imprint settings, what you get is a lot of details but trust me, you may find that the bass is severely lacking. Perhaps that is what the Alpine sound engineers interpret as sound quality tongue.gif  As for the Eclipse 7100, it sounded good to my ears. Nevertheless, hate the flimsy volume button and less than perfect CD eject mechanism.

Thanks for the honest review. am considering 7100 now.

^Imprint is useless, but without Imprint, 9887 really shines. Anyway just the Hu is not enough, other equipments do play their part too.

i do understand that. thats why ineed a good hu now.ill be patient till i afford rest of the items.

any other recommnedations?

Pioneer P80 is something worth to consider also, atleast it is made in Thailand, 9887 is from China....

thanks for the additional info. p80 is in my list as well. but one forumer told me that it is difficult to get one now as most shops got no stock available. dont know how far this is true though.

The P80RSII is another good option with lots of tuning capability (more than Eclipse 7100). Using it in my the other car. Chosen the P80 instead of the 7100 as the faceplate built quality is so much better than the 7100. But, what u get is only black and white display. tongue.gif

If u don't mind 2nd hand, can try the Alpine 9835 or Alpine 7998 or even Alpine 9855. But non of the HU beats a pure deck (like the Mcintosh series, Alpine F1 or even the Clarion HX series. Well, there are many more choices out there- depending how hard core u want to go and of course the depth of your pocket too). No point of getting a very good HU but dismayed by the other less than perfect equipments such as the speakers. I hope u get what I meant.
*
i would love to own a pure deck, at least a d2. but i dont know if i can afford it. i saw a d1 for sale, how is it compared to d2?

i want a decent setup. guess my total budget is about 9k only. tot of allocating about 1.5 or less for HU. about 2k for 4 ch amp for front. 1.5 to 2k for front 2 way. 1k for 1 12'' sub (not sure its enough for a sedan), and 1.5k for amp for sub. of course about 1k for installations but i dont know if this is enough for a good installation.

and i do understand on what u meant. i dont want to spend more than i can afford and besides this will be installed in a very old car. so there are some noise that i simply cannot eliminate. i feel that there's no point spending so much because of this. i just need something that can satisfy me. i have had 1k setup, but having listened to a few setups, i hate my current setup. so, i am just looking for something that can satisfy me. my benchmark setup is a very simple setup. only front 2 way and an amp with drx786usb. this guy does not have any sub but the bass was sufficient to me. vocals and the rest of the sound were very musical, warm and nice. i loved it. but cant afford the amp and front comp that guy uses.

Yup, you are right, because it is old model and replaced by P80RSII. Why I prefer P80 is because it will be cheaper than P802. Unles you can get P802 from US which is using copper chasis. Both of them are the same thing, except some changes on the faceplate and display. Our local P802 got no copper chasis.

Installations? What do you mean? You mentioned amps, speakers, Hu but how about RCA, power cables, speaker wires? This is something you have to look into also.

BTW, I still have some Belden speaker wires for sale, model is 5200UE and rm3.10 per meter.
*
i set aside 1k for installations meaning for rca, cables n all those stuff needed.

thanks for the clarification again. as for the belden speaker wires, it is still not my priority yet. need a HU first. thanks for the offer anyway.

the way u allocate ur budget is quite gud and i suppose u r able to get a decent system if u are able to tune it. on a side note, D2 is not a pure deck, D1 is. Pure deck is just a player without processor.
*
thanks. i just hope i can raise the funds i need soon. i did not know what a pure deck was. i thought it was. denon dct-z1 ispure deck? what is a processor and its purpose?

in terms of sq, how is d2 different than d1? mind to explain?
