hey all..

just some questions. hope you all can help me sort it out. smile.gif

1. how can i enable a Harrier (the new one) with a built-in screen to play DVD's? heard that all i need to do is install a DVD changer.. is it true? how about the player then? unsure.gif

2. the Harrier is a fully imported unit from Japan. how can i set it to receive local stations? so far it only detects radio stations from 76.0mhz to 90.0mhz..

thanks in advance.. smile.gif

2. You have to change the player. Because Japan have short wave band search which is nothing can be done.

no need change player laaaa.... u can go to reputable accesory shops and get the frequency booster (i think thats what its called). its an add on so u wont have to change the player... cost is around 100 if i remember correctly.

just go to the accesory shop and tell them ur issue about the japanese player and im sure theyll know.
*

thanks for the replies.. so just add the frequesncy booster and i can listen to malaysian stations? tongue.gif

anyknow knows anything about the DVD player? tongue.gif

oh yeah, just wanna ask, so i'm now stuck with a Jap system right? read through some forums and they mentioned that the only way to get an english system would be to "transplant" one from a UK Harrier..

right? tongue.gif

just get a new player...it'll cost much less..

the frequency booster wouldn't change the "number"..meaning you still wont be able to SEE 105.7mhz , or anything above 90.0mhz, but you'll receive it..
*

thought so.. but then.. it's the in-built system with navigation and the lcd screen.. how to change? laugh.gif

a bypass system perhaps...

I have seen people using Alpine HU even its Honda Accord 8th Gen already has the built in CD Player, the owner just left the built in CD player untouch.
*

but then it'll look ugly, won't it? an integrated system and there's another player there.. doh.gif

Greetings all.

I'm planning to get my car's speakers changed to a component set while retaining the stock Clarion HU. My budget is RM800 max. Currently looking at :

- Infinity Reference series
- German Maestro "A"-series
- Dominations (not sure which, but the one around RM700-800 gua)
- Boston Acoustics (not sure which series/model too)

Of all above mentioned, which is most recommended?

All feedback and suggestions/recommendations are generously welcomed. tongue.gif

Thank you guys!

Boston Acoustics SX60. I guess should be within your budget. zenn got sell but dunno if his is inclusive of installation not.

You don't need amps and subs?
*
Is that the best amongst the list? smile.gif I have not personally heard them yet so I can't be a judge of anything. tongue.gif

Well I want to, but my current budget is only RM800. So I guess I shall go for a decent set of components first. biggrin.gif

Thank you for your reply tho! cheers.gif

edit : Oh and, what's the main difference between the S60 and SX60? blink.gif

The main difference is the model number...the "X"....  tongue.gif

No la, SX sound different. A bit clearer and higher pitch...can be said as clarity also.

Anyway, go audit one before you want to buy. smile.gif
*

Ahh, I see I see. Tried to Google for the difference but can't seem to find any significant difference between the two. tongue.gif

Thanks for your feedback! Oh and, what do you mean by "audit"? unsure.gif

QUOTE(zennn @ Nov 2 2009, 04:39 PM)
if 800 can get la SX60 with installation
difference between SX and S is the tweeter, SX one nicer sounding, bit more detail

if can stretch to 900 can get u Eton Pro 170
*

Thanks for the clarification. Appreciate it. smile.gif

Eton.. hmm.gif Is it much superior to the SX60? tongue.gif

What do you mean by superior? In terms of technical specs?

Audit is go listen to it, then choose which set you like the most...

Sometimes ppl can say earth and sky, but if you don't like it... it won't worth a single penny.
*
Superior in terms of sound quality. laugh.gif

Yeah, should be going to view and listen to these few sets soon.

Oh and I got the model for the Infinity Reference series components. They're the 6030CS. Any good? Or is the SX60 still better? unsure.gif

Thank you! cheers.gif

Just went to have a listen at the SX60.. I didn't really like it. The SL60 is far better but at a RM300 premium.

Any shops in PJ that are recommended to have a look at? smile.gif

Thank you.

KF Audio
*

Whoops, my bad. I forgot to mention the shops I've been to. laugh.gif

Elegance Audio - Kelana Jaya - German Maestro "A"-Series
KK Lau - Kelana Jaya - Infinity Reference 6030CS
KF Audio - Aman Suria - Boston Acoustics S60/SX60/SL60
Quest Audio - Subang SS15 - Dominations Dlite

So far I've only heard both the Boston Acoustics and Dominations, and I must say, the Dominations impressed me. Elegance Audio is in the process of installing a demo unit of the German Maestro so I'll most likely have a listen to it tomorrow. KK Lau wouldn't set up a demo of the Infinity for me so I think I have to look somewhere else for Infinity's.

Any more shops to recommend? I want to make sure I make the right decision. laugh.gif

Focal 165A1 then...??? Hahahaha...

KKLau lor...hmmm Try and listen only la...
*

Ooh Focal, gotta check them out too then. smile.gif

Thanks for all the recommendations/suggestions so far guys! cheers.gif

Yeah I guess so..

Besides these five brands - Focal, Dominations, Infinity, German Maestro and Boston Acoustics, there's no other sub-RM800 component speakers worth mentioning huh? laugh.gif

Any good shops in Puchong that is worth looking around? Will be around that area so may take a look at some shops, if they're worth mentioning. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(supersound @ Nov 10 2009, 12:48 PM)
^Well, cannot say like this. The more important point is the enclosure setup you needed for the midbass. For home, it will be easier as we can calculate and measure the enclosure. But car we cannot measure(to get actual volume, water is to beused) and no matter what we do, it still leaks unless wanted to water seal the door and prevent water to flowing out from window.

No matter type of brands used, they have pros and cons. Best way is getting drivers with good $/performance.
*
I agree. The question is, which brand has the best price/performance ratio? tongue.gif
