what is a good HU under rm400?
currently using 2X 6.5'' bass, 2X 3'' mid, 2X 1'' tweeter
bass and mid units is at the left and right door
tweeter on the left and right corner of the dashboard
also using a chaplang rm199 headunit to drive those, 35w x 4 if i remember correctly,
planning to upgrade to at least mosfet 50Wx4 HU under rm400
any recommendations?
*
under 400 would be jvc, kenwood, maybe pioneer

just to inform you, the real power inside head units are very small, only 10-15 watt rms, despite what they print on the outside..

u will need a proper amp to run those 3 way components.

usually try to match it as close as possible, but on the other hand some manufacturers overrate their ratings, the high end ones underrate them

for subs usually feed power more than the sub's rms rating

roundedfly, i dont think your persona can fit that DLAA double din unit..

tingwei89, i tot u already have chapalang 2ch amp for the woofer. anyway, for your next upgrade get a 4ch amp to replace that 2ch amp, then u can run both you front speakers and the sub. if got more budget then yes, try change hu, will make a lot of difference, crossover not necessary, the amp's hi-pass & lo-pass filters should be sufficient for now.

go slowly la, buy speakers and head unit first, 1.3k is ok la, 600 for pioneer HU, 700 for component speaker. if can raise to 1500 better hehe...

after that start saving up again, can buy amp, and then sub, and need money for wiring too

try to look at the amp's specs la, what watt rms produced when bridged into 2 channel.

usually for subs, look for amp that can give more than rms power of the sub. your sub is 250W rms, if u can feed it 300 or 400W would be cun.

better leave the 4ch amp for the components, look for a monoblock for the subs. look for monoblock amp producing more than 500W @ 2ohm

for 1.2k can try dls r6a, focal polyglass and eton pro170

but if going ampless the focal will suit, but not much bass

dls has the best bass, nice vocals
etons are ok overall, and the boston sl60 also not bad

best run with amp la of coz

Thanks for your info bro smile.gif. I definately cant do proper amping (unless those Proton amps i have, which highest is 60watts so doubt it'll be enough) until at least a year or two. So of all, which sounds good unamped, but after amping, will have even better improvement in sound?

Btw do you do installations for the speakers you sell? If yes, where is your location?
*
u can use the proton amps for temporary use, better than radio. btw the 60W isnt the issue, its the quality of sound from the amp, u can listen to 50W mcintosh amps that cost 4k compare to other cheaper 50W amp, hehe then u know....

yes i have a friend who does installation, his house is in selayang...

rear speaker can use back oem car speaker and run it off the player or just buy a cheap midrange speaker if no more oem speaker. just make sure its soft, and does not disturb the sound from front stage, use the fader function.

or u can leave it empty, cover the hole with other speaker grill, can let the sub sound come into the cabin
