QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Jun 28 2012, 04:02 PM) Unfortunately no. Cash will still be cheaper unless you have the Maybank VISA Infinite which gives you 5xTP for all overseas expenses. After factoring in the 5xTP given for overseas transaction for Maybank VISA Infinite, the final exchange rate would be a little bit cheaper than what you can get at money changer. okay.. thanks for the info... SGD is really high now.. >< |

do we have any data that other major banks increase admin fee as well? This will really put Maybank at disadvantage if they're charging higher. especially for customers who do lot of foreign transactions

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Sep 25 2013, 08:22 PM) Then again with the Maybankard credit card (i.e. MBB2 AMEX and VI) we get 5X TP which is better than most cards out there. any idea what is the current admin fee for MBB AMEX? I did transactions on 22nd and 23rd Sep and all Posting Date 24th September. Visa Rate on 24th September 2013 (US Time Zone) : AUD/MYR 3.023114 and Spot Rate hovering around 3.013 to 3.02, to be exact it was about 3.0166 when Visa Currency Converter allowed me to check conversion rate on 24th September. Maybank VI rate : AUD/MYR 3.091286 that's almost 2.25% on top of Visa's rate. so lets say AMEX is maintaining around 3%, are we getting better deal using AMEX (factorized 5X TP) since there is already a fee hike for visa/master |

Transaction Type: M2C Amex Gold
Transaction Date: 16-05-2016 Posting Date: 18-05-2016 Transaction Amount: EUR 400 Amount Charged: MYR 1874.63 Oanda Interbank Rate @ 16/05: 4.5758 Difference: ~2.5% Transaction Type: M2C Amex Gold Transaction Date: 30-06-2016 Posting Date: 02-07-2016 Transaction Amount: EUR 459.18 Amount Charged: MYR 2119.15 Oanda Interbank Rate @ 30/06: 4.4783 Difference: ~3% After a comparison to Visa rate at my side, AMEX does have better exchange rate for Euro. The only thing is higher spread. |
