Thanks for your advice senpai. Since i might need some cash, is it better to withdraw cash from Bigpay as well? I have debit card from ambank (and maybank too).

Consider applying for TnG Visa as it currently offers the best forex rate. Additionally, you can use BigPay as a backup option. thumbup.gif

According to the TnG website (https://support.tngdigital.com.my/hc/en-my/articles/13760531967257-Are-there-fees-and-charges-on-my-spending-), a fee of RM15.00 is applicable for overseas withdrawals made using TnG Visa.

Although I have not utilised TnG Visa for withdrawals in Japan, my past experience with various bank-issued cards reveals the occurrence of a fee of JPY 220 when using Seven Bank's ATM service.

Tested Public Bank both Visa and Mastercard.
Visa is 1.25% (trans date)
but shocking as Mastercard is around 1.25% (if rate calculated with 1 day before trans date, which has higher rate). If calculated with the rate given at the same day, it would be around 1.7%
Why is this happening ?

Not discount. Select relevant foreign currency for settlement.
citi forex rate is more friendly compared to aa.

yes, after seeing your post i try it out with citi PM also at aa, its cheaper even citi charge 2% bank fee but just save few ringgit.
wonder what credit card charge lowest fee? hear tng rate was the best but also start charges already right? so what is next? big pay? cause going to make another aa flight ticker. Any input from sifu? Thanks

Standard Chartered Jumpstart Debit Card

Date: 15 October 2022
GBP: 47.99
MYR: 256.67
Rate: 5.3484813

Date: 16 October 2022
QAR: 81
MYR: 104.7

Exactly the same as Mastercard Exchange Rate. Wow, this is the first time I see card being advertised as zero FX markup actually have exactly zero fee. I guess now SCB Jumpstart Debit Card is the best card to be used for foreign transactions.

I carried out a further round of testing to assess the current rates using USD 10 on April 1st, and the results are as follows.

The Visa exchange rate on the transaction date is 4.4250.

CODE
RHB Multi Currency Visa     RM 44.30
Wise Visa                   RM 44.38
Hong Leong Pay&Save Visa    RM 44.48
TnG Visa                    RM 44.69
BigPay Visa                 RM 44.69

This time, RHB came out on top, with TnG Visa no longer ranking among the best.

For RHB/Wise/HLB, did you convert from MYR to USD first and use USD balance. Or straightaway use MYR balance?

Both RHB and HLB are initially converted into a USD balance, and Wise is directly spent.

3.5% if you choose MYR. Always choose JPY then it will up to BigPay or your relevant card issuer exchange rate + ATM fee by Seven ATM (220JPY)+ Your Bank Fee(10MYR)
