QUOTE(nexona88 @ Jan 21 2016, 01:07 PM)
MANY retail malls have been seeing an increasing number of empty lots lately, which is certainly not a positive sign. This points towards an oversupply of shopping malls, or even worse, poor business.

According to a head of leasing at a popular mall in the Klang Valley, mall operators are starting to see an increase in the number of early termination of retail tenant contracts.

“An increasing number of retailers are requesting early termination of their rental contracts. On top of that, there’s a drop in demand for retail space.

“We are maintaining the rent for some tenants, given the current tough operating environment. This is on a case-by-case basis.”

In times like this, established regional malls are expected to be resilient, albeit registering slower rental growth, and the new malls will have to identify their market positioning and value proposition to compete in the marketplace. Otherwise, the new malls will face difficulty in achieving optimal occupancy and rent,” he tells The Edge.

1U can also be quite empty on weekdays. The only malls I seen that always have people is Mid Valley and Sunway Pyramid. There is going be another big development opposite Kerinchi Station. Any idea what that consist of?

lol seriously  laugh.gif

Subang Jaya people also donno got Da Men shakehead.gif  shocking.gif

I am from Subang. Not too excited to be in there. A little too high kelas for me laugh.gif I don't think the traffic there is bad at all. Maybe when exiting from the traffic lights. The new development coming next door in USJ 7 by Sime Darby can ensure that future Da:Men is very rosy la.

actually I also wanted to give 3 to 6mth, but after looking at the pre-CNY shopping season & compare with nearby malls. already make decision that Da Men might ended up juz like Sunway Putra Mall  sweat.gif

It is quite dependent on Summit not to suck IMO. Hopefully Summit can really rejuvenate.

Summit has been around for many years. If the market warrant for higher class outlets, summit would have moved up market years ago.

Food should be ok. But anything else I think hard to survive. Sunway Pyramid is so near.

this is very true. i fear for bangsar south this will be the case when ecocity open.
*
It won't. As long as the offices are built nice, the pulling power is still there. Plus it is has an LRT station. What I know is SS15 is going to be very wong with Kencana Square and LRT up.

the lrt was the discussion point. anyway we'll see. bsar south is already super quiet on weekends. offices only bring lunch crowd thats it.
*
I kinda hope Bangsar South will do well. There are still a lot of ongoing developments when once completed will be quite crazy.

When the nearby LRT will start operations?
*
Around June of this year. Kelana LRT line is going to be quite crazy as it has direct connections to a lot of major hubs.

Brings variety to the mall. Even Sunway Pyramid has an Asian Avenue to cater for them.

the pict above looks kinda creepy to me bruce.gif

Lol, it is because the lamps are too bright hence the pic looks dark and creepy.

I am not sure why the place is not great. It serves a very dense area and for that the location being quite central.

I could be the GST and the poor exchange rate taking hold. sad.gif

As long as people still have jobs should be ok. Of course the biggest sufferers are OnG. At least MYR is going up. At 4 is not too bad vs 4.3 and higher....

If it is at 3.5 sure the mood will be back. Sabar la...

I think they want to let the nocturnal creatures come out. Like cockroaches and rats. They like warm areas.
