Owen praise for Hernandez
QUOTE Manchester United striker Michael Owen says Javier Hernandez's emergence at Old Trafford has put him in the shade and claims the Mexican is a better version of his current self. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/...n-of-me?cc=4716With his two-year contract due to expire in the summer, it is now anticipated Owen will be leaving the club this summer and one of the reasons for that will be Hernandez's stellar form since his arrival at Old Trafford as a virtual unknown from Mexican club side Chivas. There are plenty who make a direct comparison between the 22-year-old's rapid movement and Owen and while the former England striker is not convinced it is true of his early days, Owen accepts there are obvious similarities. ''I wouldn't say he is similar to how I was in the early stages of my career,'' he said. ''But with injuries and the way I have adapted my game, he is probably quite similar to what I do now, apart from he is a bit sharper. ''He is 10 years younger of course, so maybe he is a better version of the current Michael Owen. Javier has been the surprise package this year without a doubt. ''He is certainly sharp and is a cracking lad as well. That probably isn't that important to the people who just want to see him scoring goals but it is important for those who are around him and at the club in general.'' Not that Owen has written off his own chances of making a contribution. As, along with Dimitar Berbatov, the 31-year-old has already been promised a starting berth for Wednesday's Champions League semi-final by Sir Alex Ferguson, as United look to defend their two goal advantage. ''Javier's partnership with Wayne Rooney has really clicked,'' said Owen. ''But let's not forget that Dimitar is still our top scorer. He has only not been scoring lately because he has not been playing as much. ''Overall, the strikers have dovetailed quite well. Everyone has chipped in at certain parts of the season. Wayne almost carried us right the way through last season. This year other people have come in to fill the void. It has been a great effort all round.'' That's very nice from Owen. I think he's gonna leave at the end of the season when his two-year contract ends. All the best!! |

QUOTE(imran424 @ May 4 2011, 04:36 PM) Evra and Ferdinand to get a rest i think. Evra has been playing in almost every game this season. Ferdy just got back from injury. And Berba and Owen to start. I dunno about midfield. yes, either vidic or ferdinand should rest...not both at the same time tho....we need to rest players ahead of chelsea clash..and cannot underestimate schalke04 at the same time. i hope vds, rio or vidic, evra, carrick and rooney should be rested. nani and valencia can play some part of the game... Let's do it! This post has been edited by nshady: May 4 2011, 06:29 PM |

until today i only understand why Bebe is listed one of the worst transfer this season. It's because people are directly comparing him to javier hernandez(both 7m transfer). They think bebe should have impact just like chicarito.

QUOTE(VerdictReview @ May 5 2011, 07:49 PM) Gibson played well against Shalke great pass and got confidence on dribbling. I beg to differ. For the past few games, carrick has been outstanding. Why drop a player who has been our key player so far?SAF should give him chance against Chelsea instead of Carrick. |

QUOTE(VerdictReview @ May 5 2011, 08:26 PM) I agree with you, Carrick lately improve a lot no doubt about it but he do sometimes careless make me worried.... Yes, sometimes he's careless. But oh well, despite his experience, we need him. He's the more traditional DM, if you compare him to anderson or darron gibson...both who has more flair in attacking.Just hope he do well against Chelsea. Anyway, hope to see fabio playing right back again! is evra ok? cannot find any sources saying he's injured. One thing I'm sure, SAF will have headache selecting his midfield for the finals. Wingers - Giggs, Antonio Valencia, PJS, Nani CM- Scholes, Fletcher, Anderson, Carrick, Giggsy, PJS This post has been edited by nshady: May 5 2011, 08:56 PM |

it's a joy to watch rooney and chicarito to play together. But we may want to add more midfield power.

QUOTE(kamkamparadise @ May 5 2011, 10:11 PM) I read an article by Ian Wright (former Arsenal striker) today in The Star. He said we might end up empty handed this season and reckon Chelsea will win this weekend. I'm afraid to say that anything can happen. We can leave empty handed, or even with two trophies. Chelsea is a very strong team and Barcelona are definitely the best team out there. fingers crossed. |

3 of these four will start this weekend. Nani, Park, Giggsy, Valencia. PJS is sir alex's favourite for big games. Fletcher may not start this weekend, but well he still can play for blackburn and blackpool's games. He'll prepare himself for ucl finals.
