Gears of War 3 Beta Begins April 18th, Ends May 15th.


For those who have Bulletstorm Epic Edition we should able to start testing the Beta tonight.
I'm not sure what time we can see it, been trying noting yet.


The beta will begin on April 18th for those of you purchase Bulletstorm on the xbox 360. If you haven’t purchased Bulletstorm, you can still get into the beta by pre-ordering Gears of War 3 from Gamestop, which will get you access to the beta starting on April 25th.

Regardless of which manner you used to get into the beta, the beta will end May 15th.

So there you have it, the beta runs April 25th – May 15th for people that preorder Gears 3 through Gamestop, and April 18th – May 15th for people that purchase Bulletstorm.

480mb dling now...

took about 20min to download the beta. once completed i had a blast. the game is amazing. very smooth... the best so far i seen... the maps is fun.
had a good game tonight. can wait for more.... i glad i got bulletstorm.... even that game i so much fun to play... and getting GOW3 Beta today itself was a bonus... need to make use the time and play well....

Downloaded yesterday, but im still stuck with gears2 kakis. Lolez..

its on BS epic edition. i m using preorder codes so its isnt available.

first i thought the Beta was only a week. thus i did not get Bulletstorm game first. When i came to know that if u have BS epic edition u get to play from 28 Apr to 15 May I straight went and got the BS Epic edition. NO regrets getting the Bulletstorm game as its really a fun game and getting to play GOW3 Beta made it more worth it.

I'm loving the Beta Multilayer... Its awesome... being seeing that withing our region (Asia + Aus/NZ) about 1000 Players. And total Global more then 40000 users online.

hows the latency?
is it as good as Halo Reach?

Added on April 20, 2011, 4:47 pmalright i have just tested, the connection for online play is very fast compare to Halo Reach, it only takes around 10sec for me to get in game, no lag or whatever not sure if there is anyway to look at latency

the only bad part about this beta is, you have to learn your control while you play if you have not touch Gears1-2 for sometime...

Flaming Lancer – Complete one match during the week of 25 April and unlock this weapon variant.

Flaming Sawed-Off Shotgun – Complete one match during the week of 2 May to unlock this weapon variant.

Flaming Gnasher Shotgun – Complete one match during the week of 9 May to unlock this weapon variant.

Someone gave it to me. I don't really play GOW, didn't even finish playing GOW 2 campaign. Actually few days ago, there is a giveaway to game stores employee such as Walmart's staff. As usual, there are some people who exploited it by redeeming these code using Walmart Store number.

EPIC just want some precaution. Anyway, its no excuse for getting the wrong codes if u preordering based on ur region.

it seems like the max party size is 5 atm for the beta, there is only 1 way to play all 5vs5 friends (private match).

First impression.

5vs5, TDM, KOH
NO beast, Capture the leader.

3 maps, Trenched, Old town, Market? not sure what happen to the rest of the maps for VVIP beta.
with Dedicated Servers it plays better now.

weapons - lancer, retro lancer, hammerburst (i personally feel hammerburst is weak, high recoil and lower dmg)

graphics - Up and downs. Poly counts and texture quality are improved, pictures are sharp (too sharp). No AA and theres no filter. For me, this game looks like COD:MW2, which is a bad thing, cos this game suppose to be the benchmark for the x360 in graphics.

Customization - ONLY weapon skins and hope EPIC added more in retail version. No character customization.

Shotgun is overused in this game. Good thing theres a BETA.

Gears has always been the benchmark for x360 games since gears 1 and gears 2 (check review). With crysis2 now on consoles, its quite hard for Epic UE3.5 engine on consoles and they have been bragging that UE3.5 is the big improvement on UE2.5. Epic itself wants to win this title too, so their engine could sell in console industry and now with Gear3 beta out, i m kinda doubtful. For me, C2 was a massive leap for consoles but UE3 is like a 1 step forward and 2 step backwards.

Well, considering that Unreal Engine 3 was launched like 4 years ago with the launch of Gears 1, I doubt it can still match the performance and visual quality of what CryEngine 3 can do. But I do remember the WOW when Epic first reveal their Unreal Engine 3, damn that's memorable

My personal understanding why shotgun was overused weapon is because of the map layout. nearly 70% of the map are close quarters, So switching to shotgun is usually the best idea. Only trench and oldtown i find it fairly balance, which i took full advantage of assault rifles against a bunch of shotty fetish. Also 5v5 is not a great idea, i think larger pop will reduce shotgun usage as more lead could be delievered using assault rifles and preventing them charging headon or flanking an uncovered rear.

Althought 2barrel shotty is most prefered shotty, i do find it useless against vet gears, its easily avoidable. Easiest way rollsideways, roll behind them or stand 2-3 feet way and spam ur gnash or AR. the blast radius of 2barrel is 30 deg arc sideways but has a slim cone, in other words if u duck. the dude will miss.

i could say the weapons are quite balance. except hammerburst which is kinda nerf (lower power and high recoil and no maim shots). and gnarsh to be slightly OP (spammable shotty with acceptable range and also 1 hit ko at point blank), i would pick this over the 2barrel shotty which is nearly point blank and u must not miss.

Some other highlight. Scoocher is useless as its replace with shotgun especially gnarsh in range and firepower.

My opinion, its all about skill. Sawed-off Shotgun, yes it 1 shot kill. But need to be close enuf. Timing and skill is everything here. Otherwise, no luck. So at the end, its a balance weapon. From Gears 1 till now, most ppl love the close encounter

i could say its more to who shot first and hit first. Oddly u will c 2 dude arm with 2barrel shotty rolling about, hoping the other dude misses.

retro lancer charge is pretty pointless as ur often stop by a shotty

Not to mention the recoil. Useless if the enemy is far from you. Best (cowardest) strategy for using Retro Lancer is to wait and sneak up behind the enemies and stab their ass backside

Yup. I didnt say we cannot shoot long range since gear3 also got long range weapon. AR for example. But for torque bow, digger, sniper, and so on, u still require skill for it to hit the oppenent

Gears 3 beta is one of the best beta release period. 3 gamemodes 4 maps and the full arsenal of weapons.
