Yes, I'm on Holiday ( a very, very long Holiday) so I decided to do something useful with my time.

I used the sparrow framework. Really recommend it to any aspiring indie devs out there. Simple to use and the community support is fantastic

You do still need to know how to code in objective-c, but it simplifies the coding you have to do. Instead of writing openGLES code, which is damn confusing, you just use the sparrow framework methods to do things like creating sprites and game scenes and animation and all.

If you have a Mac - the iPhone SDK, Xcode and Sparrow are all free to use and experiment with.

There's GameSalad (Mac)
and the Unreal Development Kit (Windows)

I have only tried GameSalad once, it is pretty simple to use, once you read through the docs and all.

UDK is very powerful, you can really squeeze the graphic potential of the iPhone with it, but you have to license it if you want to make a game for the app store. Its free to try out and experiment with though! - you can also create games for windows using it as well.

At the end of the day, learning to code for the iPhone is probably best. You pick up a new skill (programming and iPhone design) you get to really talk to the hardware, and it's fun biggrin.gif

Added on August 11, 2011, 11:17 pmInfinity Blade and Epic Citadel on the app store were made using UDK
