Guys ,

any1 using 3500 mah battery..??? just order from ebay .. is it  safe to use for our SGS (1650 Mah) .??? i worried about motherboard burn and whatever....
*
the sifu who posted just above you, kmrdeva has a 3000++mAh battery, his comments so far has been good. bigger capacity battery would not burn your motherboard or anything like that. as long the battery is meant for SGS you dont have anything to worry about, just that with that 3500mAh battery, you have to use a different back cover, make that is included in the shipment

Thank u for replying.

yup together with back cover. biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif

Battery specs : 3.7VDC : 3500 mAh : Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery : For Samsung i9000/T959/i500/EPIC4G
*
should be ok to use since Vout is 3.7V. but since deva is using 2700mAh, yours is actually significantly larger. once you get it let us know the performance, should easily last 3-4 days, maybe also post some pics of the back cover so we can see how ugly it might look brows.gif

this is one of the reason i'm still on 2.2, cos of this battery issue with JVB, thought GB was suppose to make the battery better....meh!!! now i'm quite tempted to change to this ------> http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9100_gala...-review-588.php

tai kor, JPY is 2.2.1, for GB the only official one released so far is JVB which is for europe, u can try it out but some ppl mentioned got battery issue thats why i havent flashed to GB yet, waiting for the next improved version of GB to be released, hopefully soon. if u wan asean countries, then the latest official one is JPE, official GB for asean will be set to be released on May 2020 brows.gif

Why can't my Samsung Galaxy S can't install skype?! I can't find it in my android market. =(
*
u need to go to the skype website either using ur PC or ur phone to install skype for android, market dont have. i had problems with the installation process and i didnt bother to use skype after that. support for skype for android still sucks, better use ebuddy to chat and apps like whatapps/fring/tango for video. i hardly use skype

An xda member in SGS thread has purchased SGS2. overall he satisfied with it especially the speed, only the colour quality in SGS is much better..
*
but the super amoled plus is suppose to be sharper (12 sub pixels) and have lower power consumption, refer : http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9100_gala...eview-588p2.php

i would think due to the bigger battery capacity and presumably stable GB, the battery on the SGS2 should last longer

Hi, i think i know what you mean, you want to connect to the internet using your phone data and view it on your office lap top/PC using USB cable? right? Then you need go to Settings>Wireless and network>USD tethering, then enable that function then you can connect to the lap top/PC using USB cable to your phone and you can start browsing. but do beware if im not mistaken, 3G Watchdog app might not be able to track your data usage. It only works if you connect using WIFI to your phone.

wow, I love SGS II's lockscreen. hope we can get it asap drool.gif
*
or you could just buy the SGS2 instead brows.gif LOL!! actually im thinking of it, love the bigger screen and thinner body, one thing i love about samsung is their specs. but i'll probably wait for my current contract to expire in july then if they have a good deal for the SGS2 i will consider. but if there will be a SGS3 coming out end of the year, i might wait for that.

on another note, on JVH since last night, battery life is great so far and the phone is now snappier, loads much faster now on startup and shutdown. im happy with the upgrade biggrin.gif

too bad I found out the lockscreen's not the same with prototype SGS II's lockscreen, where it'll bounce. no $$ to change to SGS II for me la laugh.gif
wanna ask, how's 3d gaming on JVH? laggy compared to 2.2.1??
*
not really sure about the 3D gaming, havent tried it out yet as i only flashed JVH last night and i dont really play much 3D games. perhaps someone who plays those kinda games frequently can answer your question. but im quite happy with the battery performance so far, was around 85% when i flashed last night, now almost 17hrs still got 33% left. for me that is good, cos on previous 2.2, the battery would be drained by now. but still, its too early to tell if this performance is consistent.

After using the SGS for a week, here is my little review of the Samsung Galaxy S

The main problem with this phone is the firmware.  With the stock firmware that  came with the phone from samsung, most people will hate this phone eventually. I try the stock firmware by installing a live wallpaper and put a couple of widgets on the screen and that is enough to make me wanna flash custom firmware immediately.  With just a few widgets and live wallpaper, the phone start too lag and quite badly too. How could the stock firmware be so laggy even with a 1gz cpu?

But flashing the phone to custom firmware did solve part of the lagging issues.  I am on Darky's Extreme v9.5 and its extremely smooth but still lag in certain places. Things are really smooth on the home screen but the icons scrolling in the app drawer is not as smooth.  I have use use the iphone 4 a lot and I can say the iphone is a damn smooth phone.  The other area I notice lagging and quite badly is the call logs and the call favorites.  Is this a problem with is particular firmware andcan this be solve is not sure.  But that somehow shows that this is not a very smooth phone.

I have read  a lot about other custom rom and all seems to have a fair share of bugs.  So there is really no rom that can make the SGS works like it should be.

The next thing i wanna talk about is the screen.  I heard a lot about how great is the Super Amoled screen on the SGS but my feeling is somehow mixed on this one.  The super amoled is indeed a colorful screen and its really sharp. The black is really beautiful too and i love the 4 " size which is not too big and not too small. But somehow the color is too oversaturated and inaccurate. My wife was asking why is the screen color look so fake!  I was comparing the same web page with my friends iphone 4 side-by-side and the iphone 4 screen is brighter with the background white that looks white, while the same background on the SGS is blueish instead of white. I was applying a screen protector yesterday under a bright table lamp and I can see the SGS glass is actually blue color.  This really affect the color of the picture as it looks very un-natural.

The other thing I notice is that the gps is broken.  Sometimes I can get a lock on the gps stations, but sometimes it just won't work. Considering that I bought this phone 9 months after its official release, how come samsung continue to produce this phone with a broken gps that is not fixed?

Battery life is quite good as I can use the phone for the whole day till i need to recharge before I go to bed with moderate usesage.

The other thing I find lacking is the Android Market. I am starting to miss the Apple's App Store. The apple store have both quantity and quality software to suits  almost anybody, but the same cannot be said about the Android Market.  Its just no comparison.

Anyway, the above is just my views regarding the SGS after 1 week.  Hope there is a better firmware coming up.
*
sir, perhaps you can read this article to give u a better understanding and comparison with IP4 : http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9000_gala...-review-500.php

for me, there is no such thing as a better phone or the best phone, each individual have their own requirements and they make their own choice on what phone they want. the problems you mentioned has been around for a long time since SGS was launched, the good thing is there are fixes for it and most SGS users like the phone because of the they get to play around with different firmwares and not be bogged down by I-OS rigid control. still if one wants a good reliable phone, i will advise them to get IP4 but for me, SGS is still fun and i chose it cos of the specs of the phone.
