all people are accepting the fact that quadrant are kinda not representing day to day use. alwiz got a case high quadrant but interface alwiz lag

if not mistaken i saw extended widget got that 2g/3g thingy wait i check it it directly change

what you mean by stock modem?
never heard a modified modem before,
you can change modem to anything you like, not sure about ginger using froyo modem or vice versa, if not mistaken can also.
modem have nothing to do with csc, or the base.

if you use odin before, which i think you already use, you can mix and match those 3 box (PDA,PHONE,CSC) with anything you like, given that the file is from same version (froyo with froyo, ginger with ginger), go crazy over it.

right now for me the best is JVO which is included in the latest gingerbread firmware (JVH),

the wifi signal is not weak like JVK modem and got best GPS signal like JVE (JV1 modem)

tried, and loooving it...... use the one in the theme section at XDA by nick521 i think, it got the SGS2 digi clock, weather, and some other sgs2 app, around 4 or 5 oh them i think,
got the folder option in the app drwaer, the make a new page option, widget selection scrolling app. juusst loving it, the icons, simple yet attractive
