My port is capped at 5119, the installer did it himself without being asked. But my username is still capped at my old 384 speed. The installer said that activation will take between now and three days time. Is this right? Not instantly?

24 hours already, and my speed is still the same. Hmm. Time to bug the 100 line
Edit: Haish. 100 line said that everything is ok already in the system. And asked me to call the installer since any problem that occurs within the three days period, should be directed to the installer. One question, between the Riger and D-Link modem, which one is better? This post has been edited by spikey2506: Jul 22 2011, 09:46 AM |

![]() Finally.. Ahhh, such bliss! Added on July 22, 2011, 12:46 pm QUOTE(dirk_diggler @ Jul 22 2011, 10:41 AM) So I applied for the 4MB line by calling 100. The lady said there are 29 ports available in my area and so will submit my application to the "processing department". If there is nothing wrong, the technician will come and "install". I know my SNR is good 'cos the DSLAM is just freaking next to my house and it was checked by a TM technician before. The technician will come to ur place and check your line. If SNR/Attenuation is ok, he will go ahead and set the physical cap for ur line. If possible at this point, try to ask if you can be capped at 5mbps, so that you can gain the maximum from your package. For my case, the installer did that without being asked. To set this cap, he will need to call a phone number to ask and then you will see ur DSL indicator blinking to indicate that speed reset is in progress. After that, he will test your line using his own 4mbps username to check the throughput that you can achieve. If the throughput is good, only after that he will activate ur username for ur new 4mbps package. Activation of ur new package will take between 24 hrs to 3 days. So after installation you will still be using ur old speed. This may apply to upgrades only, so new applications may be able to use the 4mbps speed right away.Actually this is the 2nd time I am applying for the 4MB. The first time the SNR is good according to the technician but for some reason which I do not know it could not be done even though the service is available in my area. What is recorded in the report "Service cannot be given". WTF! Can those who have successfully upgraded give their experiences and thoughts on this 4MB upgrade process so that I will know what to look out for instead of just listening to TM's bullshit. Thanks guys. This post has been edited by spikey2506: Jul 22 2011, 12:46 PM |

QUOTE(dirk_diggler @ Aug 3 2011, 11:27 PM) The installer never even came to my house and it already got set to 4Mb? How is that possible? I thought its the installer who changes the line to the new speed. It is not him. TM does it from their side. When the installer came to install my 4MB, he changed the speed by calling their network centre.Added on August 3, 2011, 11:30 pm Somebody remotely changed the speed? Cos the installer never even come to the house and isnt he the one who actually does the speed change? |

Mine still the same. Local can still get 4.3 mbps and line is still capped at 5119. This morning I could not get connected, but a call to TM's 100 settled that. They have a dedicated department for 4mbps subscribers and shortly after that the problem was solved, a problem with one of their authentication servers. A few subscribers reported the same thing this morning.
BTW, Mediafire for me just went down. Now hovering between 80-110 kbps. This post has been edited by spikey2506: Aug 9 2011, 10:20 PM |

QUOTE(sphiroth @ Oct 3 2011, 11:04 PM) Thanks for the reply. The installer already give me the wifi router but no cordless phone and asked me tui grey it from tmpoint. Two weeks from installation date. Actually they need to wait for your call plan (unlimited local calls) to appear in their system and the effective start date, which is usually the next billing date. That's why they told you to come after you've received the next bill. Only then can they give you the phone. But usually after two weeks, everything will be in their system. I came to collect mine after just one week. |

Anybody experience throttling? I think I'm throttled. After 7pm till about 12am, my speed really sucks. Mediafire with IDM barely touches 100KB/s. Same goes to youtube. Really slow. Only after midnight that my speed touches 500KB/s. Before this it was all smooth sailing

QUOTE(=..= @ Feb 11 2012, 09:33 PM) I got a problem for the past few weeks. my streamyx package is 4mbps and most of the time during the daytime is ok, when night time 8-12 am become snail. Exactly like mine. I don't think the SNR has got anything to do with it, coz my SNR is the same since the first day I installed. I suspect TM is throttling![]() called up tm and few guys came... they said to monitor the SNR margin see whether got drop. if got drop they say got problem. right now its - down 36.2 upstream 22.8 the same as always. this case ever occur to you guys? |

Went to TMPoint and they said that my area is not supported. So I applied online via TM's website. Today TM called and said that there are free ports in my area and they will send a technician to check my line. But I'm not harboring to much hope, since attenuation and SNR quite bad.
