They configured it to 4096 not 5120. I talked with them, they claim anytime I received over 3.2mb speed is the advertised speed and my contract is 80% speed despite MCMC 90% advertised speed.

I've never bothered to ask more the last time the installer came after he told me to contact him for upgrade the next few days to make sure my line was stable with the 4096kbps physical line cap.

Waste of my time to chase them and risk my line getting f##ked up.

Be contented with a 4mbps you get in Malaysia because my friends in Taiwan, US and UK are also subscribing to the cheapest packages around this speed (Taiwan has 3mbps/384k and most recently upgraded to 4mbps/786k 光纖 FTTC VDSL2). They tell me it's because they spend most of their time outside home working so a stable consistent line is all they need with minimum monthly charges.

How much they pay? No more than $25 with freebies given.

At what we're paying with RM140 it's considered way overpriced and now they are looking at ways to save more bandwidth further.

I don't under stand why Thailand can still offer cheaper internet than us when they are less submarine cables compared to Malaysia. Not that they don't have heavy downloaders, they have more drama fans than us with a much bigger population.

So where did our bandwidth went?

Back as an 4Mbps user now. Thank you Ah Cheap.
I did the speedtest several times with a cap of 4096, the result came back pretty consistant.
3.53/0.43Mbps.
Nothing wrong right?
The ping result varied a bit though, reading from 56 to 109ms.

Edit: Though the speedtest result was consistant, it doesn't feel all that much of an upgrade. Hope that it get better.

I don't think we could adjust the cap on our own. Or else everyone would've removed the cap altogether. tongue.gif
I asked the installer if I could get a cap of 5M too and he said it he could do it but the line wouldn't be as stable. So I just let it be for now. If 4096 isn't too bad then I wouldn't mind so much.

My port is capped at 5119, the installer did it himself without being asked. But my username is still capped at my old 384 speed. The installer said that activation will take between now and three days time. Is this right? Not instantly?

To set the physical cap of the line, he called one number and asked to upgrade speed. Then he said to put 5mb as the cap. After that, the dsl indicator starts blinking to indicate the speed reset is in progress

For more info refer to this website

http://www.streamyx.com
They are few tips getting 4.0 Mbps to your house, ask the technician to come to your house and check ur line capability ( Sometimes TM.Nut won't entertain this ) But i managed to fix 4.0 Mbps even though my house is not in their System for 4.0 Mbps. This will take a lot of effort for them to do it. Do remember u mess be less than 2km from DSLAM to support 4.0 Mbps otherwise it won't work. They will check your ADSL status latency aka SNR Margin to confirm your line support or not.

how to contact the technichian? tm told me thats my area no port for 4mbps.

applied for 4Mbps today morning. TM called me and made appointment with technician to check the line around 2pm++.

technician came to my house around 6pm++ and bad news - cannot support 4Mbps due to the line, very bad.

*ish* darn sad...

btw, technician said now a lot of 4Mbps port available due to many upgrade to Unifi. so better grab it quickly.
