This is probably old news for most but I thought I'd share how I got a free Innacomm W3400V Wireless Modem and RM20 per month from TM. I signed up for the 4Mbps Streamyx Combo pack back in May 2009 (RM160 internet/phone) and am extremely happy with the package. I get good speed/ping for my needs; Warcraft/torrents/surfing. I really didn't want to deal with the hassle of dealing with TM so I put off doing this for a long time:

What I did is finally went down to TM office and turned my Combo package into their BB deal 4Mbps. It's just a matter of paperwork to do it, and an hour wait. They will set everything up for you and a week later the TM tech came over with my modem. I stopped him at the door and said everything was fine and just took the modem, it's still in the box. The only thing I didn't get was the free cordless phone, which they said was only for a new installation (that's ok because it's an ugly phone.)

So if you're still on the Combo pack, save yourself some money and sign up for the BB deal.

Yeah this is what i did u can still save RM 20 per month hehehe from the existing package RM 160 to RM 140 per month

The technician finally come to my home and help me set the 4mb line , however he cant open 5mb line for me due to the line problem???? i only get the 4mb line and i run the speedtest showing me only get 3.2mb dl speed?
Should i complain to TM for upgrade my line to 5mb??

hi everyone..lately i exp a slow downloading speed... maybe due of school holiday..but i found out that my Attenuation line also very low..is it ok?

Line Attenuation Up : 3.8
Line Attenuation Down : 3.8

I don't think is TM's fault...
Not a big fan of fileserve...speed always not constant!
Megaupload is the best,speed always at max.!

Anyone here can enlighten me more, which ping reading is more trustable... Speedtest/Pingtest.net or through command prompt?

My ping reading to KL server when I'm doing a speedtest.net is about 30-34ms while when I'm pinging Google.com (why Google, since they have a mirror server in M'sia, thus it will be considered as Local connection) i got about just average about 24ms and peaked at 26ms...

the kl server hosted by optical company always has higher ping!

perhaps u guys wanna listen to some story from east coast? just 4 sharing. im from kuantan and only few months ago my area started to have 4mb package. I signed up straight away and 1st 2 months was ok, IP is either 115.xxx or 124.xxx. Stream gomtv.net global starcraf2 league flawlessly and megaupload 100-200kb/s. But since last weekend IP suddenly changed to 175.xxx and megaupload speed down to 30-4kb/s zzzz... n the most frustrating part is, I CANT STREAM MY SC2 MATCHES ANYMORE! n the worst thing is i already paid premium fee to gomtv.net for the streams access. DAMN U TM!!
