hey guys, i have a theory here but its not necessarily true ya.... smile.gif
is it possible for TM to lie to me saying the port for 2M and 4M is full just because my area is covered by unifi (since ~august 2010) ???
*
Yea... it's possible...
Just look at the new housing area, TM said that there are no copper line facility at all there...
Only Fiber.... rclxub.gif

ok bro, my perak home only registered with 384kbps only.. old package, but when i used my 4mb acc, it can detect 2Mb max .. but, after i back to subang later then, my line become 2MB !!? wondering why??
*
You subscribed for 384Kbps at Taiping, but TM cap your PHYSICAL lines at DSLAM to 2Mbps. TM has 2 systems, first is Account cap, while the second one is PORT/DSLAM cap.

When you login using your 4Mbps account at Taiping, u can achieve the maximum speed of your port, which is 2Mbps, but why you cannot get 4Mbps? Because your port or like ipohbee said, PHYSICAL LINES are set to 2Mbps only.

While at Selangor, your port are set to 4Mbps, which is equal to your account speed.

I'm suspecting that's your DSLAM problem. Mind to post your downstream/upstream reading for your Selangor account?

yea, account profile got locked with the slower line you logged in earlier with 2mbps in Taiping. i think this is why my acc capped at 2Mb last time when i back subang .. shud be this reason if account capped, boom 100 only  brows.gif
*
It's better for u to call 100 and complaint to them. Plus, can you post your downstream/upstream reading from your modem?
I'm afraid that's the port problem at your area. There's some case where TM suddenly miscapped your DSLAM, not your account...

and for my desktop i am using a wireless modem, quite powerful one(TP-Link) , but the speed i get at most is also 150kbs +  , any help out there ?

should i change my modem or the default modem is good enough , maybe is the problem with the international line goin on ?

I tried the speedtest , its just 1.4 Mbps download....

Have the technician come to your house to configure your line?
If they have come to your house, then you should wait for about 48 hours (about 2 days) for them to upgrade your account.
I think they have set your port (physical site) to 4096Kbps or if you're lucky, you can get 5012Kbps...
The problem now, your account is still stuck at the old profile which is 1.5Mbps... Just wait for 2 days, and after 2 days you still experiencing the same 1.5Mbps speed, call their technician first because you still got 14 days warranty from the technician... Asked them carefully whether they have ask TM to configure your account to 4Mbps... Anyway, Good Luck in your "battle" tongue.gif

Does this 4mbps have special modem...is it different modem than 1mbps?
*
Any ADSL 2+ modem will do... smile.gif
There's no different from 1Mbps even 384Kbps modem also can run 4Mbps easily...
ADSL 2+ modem can support up to 24Mbps for download.. But that's not happen here where ADSL technology will just "limited" to 4Mbps...

For the download, is really OK...
but seems you have a problem with your upload speed...
Should get at least 0.38Mb/s or usually TM will give u about 0.41-0.47Mb/s

if im an existing streamyx 1mb user now.. how this upgrade process can be done..? walk-in tmpoint and ask for this package..?

wad i mean was will the technician come to my house again to fix this fix that..? or a 4mb will be automatically attached to my line if i upgraded?
*
1) Go to the nearest TMPOINT around your residential areas

2) Asked them that you wish to upgrade your speed from current speed to 4Mbps

3) They will check whether your area support the 4Mbps or not (Usually you must be within 2-3KM from the exchange/remote cabinet)

4) If your line are able to support 4Mbps, they will process your request and technician will come to your house to check your physical line condition (eg SNR Margin/Line attenuation/DSL modulation etc etc).

5) New wireless modem will be given (depending on technician jugak rasanya) and they will change your line speed at your port.. Usually between 4090/512 and sometimes 5120/512 for downstream and upstream speed.

6) Wait for about 48 hours, frequently restart your router and also do the speedtest to the LOCAL server. See whether your speed has changed or not... If you notice the speed already more than 80% of 4Mbps speed (about 3.2Mbps), now your upgrade process already success.... smile.gif

According to the officer at the TMpoint, he said to me that any upgrade, relocation of homeline and Streamyx, they will renew your contract for the minimum period of one year... Execption for the super upgrade deals, where the new contract is 2 years...

There is a quota? Not unlimited usage?
*
For the time being, TM Broadband product, whether Unifi or Streamyx, they still not implement any type of bandwidth limit ( i repeat, bandwidth limit) to their services.. But I don't really sure for the future time because lots of rumours have been heard that TM will implement the bandwidth limit for Unifi as well for Streamyx. But Unifi is far more obvious....

But you need to know that TM already cap the P2P usage on Streamyx...

Yes, he can use 2Mbps, but using the full maximum speed with bad line condition will lead to frequent disconnection... sad.gif

hopefully one day tm will increase the upload speed from 512kbps tp something much more faster like 640kbps or 768kbps maybe.. That's more than enough for me since i think 512kbps is just to slow...

Hello guys,

If I am upgrading my streamyx line from 1mbps to 4mbps BB package, am I entitled for free cordless phone or modem?
*
if you already got the free dect phone from the previous 1mbps package, then you're definitely not entitle for the other one. For the wireless modem, depending on the technician who will come to your house to setup your 4mbps, some will not so 'straight' where they will just hand out the new modem without any hesisation.... Unfortunately, i got the 'straight' technician where he said i already got the wireless modem and tm will not hand out the new modem if the customer already owned it. Haish....

hey i checked the phone line quality, downstairs the tone very clear but i check upstairs the tone got a little bit noisy sound... so any idea is it cable problem or other problem?
*
Since your phone line are split into several ports at your house, the for any additional ports available in your house, you need to install an ADSL splitter in order to filtered out the DSL Noise... DSL Signal actually runs out to every phone jack at your house, and you need to filter it by using that thingy... that's why you're experiencing a noisy sound when trying to make a calls as well as receiving the call... You can buy it from any IT and sometime, hardware shop also sell it...

DSL Splitter usually looked like this ;

How much does it cost for the wiring to be changed?
I am using 4mbps package right now,but i am capped at 5120.
It seems that my SNR margin is really low which whoops around 8 to 10db.

Kinda unstable sometimes, but no disconnections so far.
Is it possible to request for a wiring change?
Haha thanks guys!
*
yea, it's possible.. just call 100 and asked them that you wanted to change the wiring for your phone line...
Usually they will give you the contact number for the contractor around your area, then you need to deal directly with the contractor to change the wiring. The cost for change the wiring is various, it will start from RM50 for the first 5 meters while additional meter will be charged RM5/meter. Just rewquest to replace the wiring at my house about 3 months ago, and they charged me RM70 for the new wiring...
