My kancil's radio reception has been getting really poor lately. I'd drive around and all I hear are music and static mixing up. And one fine day when I switched it on - totally nothing. So I pulled out the HU and tested it with my FM modulator, no problems. Whipped out the multimeter and measured resistance from the antenna plug to the antenna end, and it reported 172 ohms, and even zero. It's probably time for a new one. So where can I get the antenna fixed, or replaced? Any accessories shops to recommend?

I went to an accessories shop today and one of the guys got his spare antenna out to test. He plugged it in and wasn't able to get a signal at all.
So I pulled out the stock HU again to do more tests, along with my FM modulator. I figured the connector from the HU might have been screwed.
1. No sound from the modulator when the antenna is unplugged, none from any radio stations
2. Muffled sound from the modulator with the antenna plug fitted all the way, none from any radio stations
3. Clear sound from the modulator with the antenna plug halfway through, none from any radio stations (?!)
And funny thing experienced on Test 2 was, whenever I touch a metal part of the HU, the signal dies. Same thing goes when I touch it using a screwdriver.
I have no idea what is going on now. Any ideas?

QUOTE(zennn @ Apr 21 2011, 12:42 PM) maybe HU has some grounding problem..? It wasn't either. It was actually the HU antenna connector that was the culprit Anyway I got a new one, and it's all good now
