QUOTE(jass80 @ Apr 17 2011, 12:26 PM) Hi SGA owners out there, found this thread at Android forums regarding the Screen Of Death (SOD) phenomenon. The find out out its something got to do with our WIFI Yes it's the wifi... but I could not pinpoint WHEN it happens. There must be some trigger for it, maybe an app, a service, a setting, etc. I was running wifi happily for 4 days and nothing happened. Then 1 day it happened twice. Hmmm."Quote: Originally Posted by TotoyKamote after 24hours++ of testing, the problem re-occured. I left the phone overnight, about 6 hours w/o charger plugged. I have tried it myself for the past two days and I haven't had any problems, BUT I have had my WiFi turned off completely unless I need it, because my dad reread the forum and said that the problem is not in the WiFi going into sleep mode, but the WiFi itself. Guess I misunderstood. Turning WiFi completely off has worked for me for the past couple of days, perhaps you could try that? I really hope Samsung notices and fixes it soon. " source from; http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-ac...urning-off.html So, turning of your WIFI completely maybe will not make your phone suddenly turning off?? Have u guys try it before?? i haven't get my SGA yet, so thats why i do a lot of research first. cheers |

QUOTE(alive88 @ Apr 18 2011, 02:14 PM) ive been lurking around since the first thread created, and i myself had bought SGA around 2 weeks ago.. Let's make a list then.Fortunately, i havent experienced the SOD or hangup while on call and so on.. just trying to help, i did asked in the previous thread for all the user who experienced all the problems to state their firmware version AKA the baseband version(correct me if im worng).. this is just to make sure that the FW itself is not the culprit. this is due to that i saw someone here mentioned that he had the problems since the FW update. then let me start, mine is S5830DXKB1.. with this FW, never experienced SOD or freezed screen.. please share yours..thanks! hope this help us in any way to clarify this problem.. coz SGA is such a nice phone.. S5830DXKB1 (alive88) - no SOD S5830DXKC1 (Dannyl) - has SOD! |

Incredible S also got shutdown issues. Maybe they're related? The users have pinpointed the cause to be some apps.
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1792466/+2060 QUOTE(tracy_jad @ Apr 19 2011, 08:34 AM) I think baseband + apps that using. Maybe it's just apps. So... are we going to start posting apps listing? one of them using KB1 SOD facing SOD after updated JuiceDefender? is that possible that it inter-related? So many possible causes, very hard to pinpoint. We know it's not baseband anymore. Maybe can now list out SD card used and root status. Apps listing too long to keep track.Dannyl hmm correct the list. I didt get SOD problem before. I did some google just now some said it is sd card problem /kernal problem / Bad coded apps / cpu unstable |

QUOTE(yokeloonlo01 @ Apr 19 2011, 10:49 AM) Can I ask how do you remove a shortcut/application from the home screen on galaxy ace android 2.2, I know you can add shortcut but how do you remove ? Cannot remove... you're stuck with it forever. Factory reset will help.sorry sounds a bit stupid but I want customize it so that I can post my family photo on the phone and move the shortcut to the lower part of the phone Thanks Just joking. Just press and hold the app, then when it vibrates, drag it to the bottom of the screen. |

QUOTE(stormaker @ Apr 20 2011, 08:36 AM) I tried the instruction in the box, by sending PC imei no. to 62002, but I got reply saying "The service is not available, Please try again later.", but im been trying for 1 month already since i bought it. Yes true also... Samsung told me when registration details is absent, they will follow purchase date on the receipt. But must bring receipt lah After that, I called Samsung customer service to check the warranty status, they told me to just keep the receipt for warranty claim, warranty registration is not important. |

Actually no need to take out battery if SOD... just press the power button for a long time, probably about 10 seconds.

QUOTE(ohjani @ Apr 21 2011, 11:27 AM) Add me to the SOD victims list. Let me explain my situation see whether this gives any clues to the investigation pool Too many variables causing SOD. Wireless encryption maybe be one of them. To those who use wifi and never encountered SOD, what's your encryption method?Bought last week from SenQ. 1) Night time using wifi on Xyzel wireless router running 802.11b/g/n WPA2-PSK SOD one time on the 3rd day 2) Day time using wifi on Dlink wireless router running 802.11b/g WEP No SOD 3) After 1 week, hands itchy, changed the day time Dlink router to use WPA-PSK SOD on the very first day after changed. Phone still clean during the SOD on the 3rd day, only has facebook and ATK installed. Not rooted and using the ori 2GB SD card comes with the phone. Already did the WLAN test mentioned in page 1. Firmware: S5830DXKC1 Could it be the encryption method or the wireless signal stability that caused the SOD? |
