Kies does not limit itself to region. Latest is the best, I use the same Kies version for my Malaysia and UK Galaxies.

CSC is Carrier Specific Customization. All the telco settings (APN), bloatware and branding is handle by CSC. Malaysia CSC which has all telcos setting is XME. Can check over SGS1 thread, there is a list of all code for SEA CSC.

Kies will read your phone code (product id - which can be changed by changing CSC) to find the official firmware for your region, change the CSC to Nordic region to obtain latest official firmware early.

The phone will be defaulted back to KOR if it cannot find the correct Sales Code.

SEA CSC is for South East Asia and available to firmware version starting with DX. Above list is for SEA Region.

To change to other region, u need to flash to another firmware for example uk/europe firmware XW or eastern europe XX etc. Then change the CSC after that.

You can flash any firmware with any CSC but need Odin and multiple firmware files (PDA,Phone,CSC - tar files), tested on SGS but not yet on SGA (wife using it, so running stock DXKC1)

Moreover, flashing different CSC won't give you the region language and locale (that is provided by the firmware), it only configure your APN automatically everytime factory reset the phone and give you any extra apps from the telcos.

New SGA user here! bought this phone last week thru online, and received it yesterday ,  but i got big big big problem with this phone!
(if im not mistaken my firmware version is SS5830DXKC1)

1) i can login to android market, but when i try to download something, nothing happen when i hit the install button, theres a small icon at the notification show it download the apps, but it disappear after that, i keep repeating download the same apps, still, nothing happen

2) sometimes when i open manually install apps such as game, facebook for android, a windows pop up says blaaa2 and have a button "force close"

3) 2 times SOD first*yesterday*> after receive a phone call, 2nd*today*>> turn of it self

4)  the 2nd time sod, i try to turn it on, but it stuck at the samsung logo until now. I try to remove the battery and mmc, put it back,and turn it on but its not working, still stuck at the samsung logo

guys should i just root this phone? can i root without turn on this phone?
or shud i send it to samsung centre? where is the nearest samsung centre i can go, i live in sentul' help me T_T

Yes, i fully agree...chose this over ideos x5 because i am not so into video or photo capturing. So far it has been serving me very well except for the battery. Maybe it is new, just bought on 23 May, need several rounds of charges before it is really powered up

After observing my wife using the Galaxy Ace I passed to her for a few weeks, I can say that the battery life is really terrible.  Fully charged in the morning, then by nighttime is almost flat.  I suggested she use back her old HTC Legend, and with the same usage, >50% left by nighttime.  Legend even has extra FaceStream and Weather widget.  But strangely, SOD did not happen to her, but happened to me when I used the same Ace last time.  Now that Ace is unused, I submitted it at Berjaya Samsung SC for the SOD problem.  We'll see what the result is

upgrade to VillainROM GB 2.3.3, reflash to leaked 2.3.3 but with one issue, sometime i can sms people, sometimes cant...
others, no issue..
regarding battery life, now no problem can last up till 2.5 days..
juice defender installed, works well with me...
i often clear my ace via task manager and from the program list..
if you havent calibrate ur battery, it's suggested you do so..
every time i flashed my ace, i charged fully, recalibrate my battery stats, unplug from the charger..
average battery savings showed in juice defender is at x1.9.
other than that, switch off your background data if not using, keep ur packet data on..
if you were to use wifi, switch on your background data, switch off your packet data...
gonna venture to 2.3.4 later...

Anyway, did anyone tried to reset to factory default after upgrading ROM? (my Omnia had to reset to factory default after flashing to a new ROM, dunno why, cause if I didn't, battery life will drain very quickly; 24 hours if I don't reset, somewhere around 2 days if I did )

How bout default ROM? Still need to hard reset? I'm still on the default one

anyone here use ace and using innacomm w3400v wifi modem (free modem from tm) at home?? i dunno why i always loss in connection when use a wifi. its ok at 1st n then after 2 or 3 minutes, web cant log n massage show "a network error has occurred". try retry still same. at 1st i though my modem fault but i see my sister who use htc incredible s can play without any problem.

has anyone face these problems before?if yes,what should i do?
problem 1:the sound for songs,videos or notification sound(not ringtones or sms) will turn into very soft(can only be heard by placing phone next to the ear) even if set it to the maximum,i can only set it back to normal after reboot the phone.
problem 2:happened recently only,and usually after playing songs,my phone wont charge anymore after plugging in the charger.even normal reboot also nothing happen,only way is to remove the battery,put it in and switch on,its not SOD by the way
this only happened recently with the same applications i have been using all the while before this,whats wrong??

So do you know how to identified whether it's AP set or Ori set ? How about the screen ? is it Gorilla Glass display or normal display ?

SGA is Gorilla Glass... but still a gorilla will die too if shot by gun...
