not ok.. delete the old one
also, when installing a new driver, choose "custom install"
then tick "perform clean install"

we used to go to safe mode to delete an old driver then only we would install the new driver. but now it comes with this "perform clean install" , so we don't need to delete the old driver in safe mode.

I never did delete the older drivers when I installed a new one. I just let it override.

but the good way to install a new driver is to thoroughly uninstall the old driver to avoid conflict. that's why there is an option of "perform clean install". it thoroughly removes the old files from the old driver.

Nope, still using the 270.51 beta. Unless the WHQL gives a lot of improvement or stability, I usually don't upgrade.

no it doesn't... it merely removes the custom settings... there are still files left over...

u'll need specialized programs like DriverSweeper if u want to perform a clean uninstall...

make sure u ve a copy of the old driver, then download DriverSweeper, uninstall Forceware, run DriverSweeper in SAFE MODE, boot back and reinstall the latest Forceware

if the situation continues, then it's up to u to decide if u want to revert or not...

long? it's 2mins at the most... it's long mainly cuz it will clean the C:\Nvidia folder as well, which is where all the driver packages are... juz untick that and it will need to only delete a handful of files and registry entries...

well then, it's all in the mind...

i prefer to do the clean way since that can eliminate one potential problem should anything screw up and needs to be fixed...
