Folks, need your help here. I'm contemplating to move to Byond.

Wanted to check, on the normal Byond Box, can I use both output, at the same time meaning the hdmi and Video-AV.?

The reason I'm asking I dont plan to take up the Astro DVR, but would like to record some programs time to time. Currently I'm recording using a VCR, yeah yeah I know its out dated technology! blush.gif

SO on the new byond box can I continue the same?

Thanks

Yes, you can use both HDMI and Video AV at the same time. Although HD will be downsized to PAL SD on video AV.

Thanks mate, thats, great news. I will be using a MediaPlayer as recorder (acryan or eaget) in future. I dont mind the SD quality.

Could be the box itself, you want to call Astro support.

BTW, is there a real necessity to change the coaxial cable from the disc to the box? WHat are the cons using he same?

last week my wife complaint that i use Astro beyond to watch sport channel to much.she loose so many episode of Indonesian drama.Going to astro booth to upgrade astro PVR.must pay rm300 plus rm10 every month."Forget about it,lets go shopping"my wife said.
*
They have another option too, right, where you only pay RM5 monthly and you get the HardDisk, not sure how much is for the equipment? Should be in the website

hi guys, i have problem with the decoder set now. the screen will go completely blank after boot up whenever there is smart card inside, if i remove the card from the decoder, astro byond menu comes back but asking to put in the card, once the card is in, blank screen all over again, why uh?
*
Most like either your card or the card reader on board. You would need to check with the technical center

What I was told is, in order to get beyong Hardware (box and disk), you need to upgrade from Astro to Byond and subscribe to HD for a year (RM20) after that you could cancel the HD.

You cant upgrade fro Astro to non HD Byond.

Will be joining you guys soon!, too much poison from you all! rclxms.gif

Just registered yesterday, they should be contacting me in a week.

Anything that I need to be aware of, or take precaution.

One problem I see is my wiring, since its concealed, about 10 feet length. rclxub.gif

Are you upgrading to B.yond or B.yond PVR ?
Make sure you follow after 2 days to ensure the CS did put in your B.yond order.
*
Without the PVR, I dont think its a necessity to me.

Currently I use my VCR (yes still have it!) biggrin.gif to record, but lately, just lost interest in recording or finding time to watch at later stage.

Hence no PVR, if needed, later, I could compromise, I think, reuse my VCR or use my media player to record (maybe).

Insists taht ur account is activated before the installer leaves ur home..dont take his word that it would be activated in the next 24 hours or etc..ask him to call astro and activate on the spot or risk not getting to watch ur astro for at least 24 hours..
*
Thanks for the headsup.

As for PVR, feel its costly, with monthly RM10, and RM300 for the box?

Go get the SuperPack 1/2/3 to get all services included like PVR and HD
Now it's RM150 for installation fee for B.yond PVR (usual is RM300 installation fee).
*
Thanks for the suggestion, and I do think its a good deal for those who needs it.

Currently, I do only RM79 (with new increase RM89) +20 for HD = rm110, so with the above its RM150 monthly, the difference of RM40, which I dont feel is justified, at the moment, just my POV.

My first impression, there aint much difference between SD with Byond and the normal older box. Infact the older box, looked much better.

The others...I still need time to play around....lets see

I guess, you are correct here, the volume control from the remote, basically controls the tv volume, need to read the manual then...hmmm
