Yes I am seeing Sky News SD with the news package.

Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer a programme recorded on the PVR? There's a USB slot there but it doesn't seem to do anything. Anyone know a crack? My mom was just on BBC World News today and I want to keep the show and burn into DVD for her.

N the best thing is..if Im not mistaken, the Sky News we are getting is the UK version too..not international version like BBC or CNN..its similar to the Australian Network channel..

I don't believe there is an international version of Sky News, it's just a UK news channel.

My guess is that Astro will keep Sky News because it's partially owned by News Corp. News Corp also has share in Astro. So Astro is basically adopted brother of Sky News.

If you ask me tho, AC Nielsen is the clueless one. Doctor Who new season launch yesterday. Dun get to see because dun have BBC Entertainment. Fren from US talking about it cry.gif

Yes spot on, Sky is News Corp and so is a chunk of Astro. Anything with STAR, SKY or FOX in it is all Murdoch.

Not everything in Malaysia is government interference, this one is corporate. Murdoch has a running battle with the BBC in the UK as he feels they take too much market share from Sky. When Astro were petitioned by the Expat group in KL on why BBCE had gone they said it was 'lack of quality', at the time BBCE was showing State of Play, a multi Bafta award winning drama with film stars James McAvoy and Bill Nighy - widely regarded as one of the best TV shows of the last decade (and adapted into a Holllywood film). They replaced it with BIO and a Britney Spears documentary, the excuse is just laughable, if they'd said it was too expensive or something I might have beleived it.

Again though, a question for all the sifus out there, which South Est Asain or even Asian country actually carries Sky News or Sky News HD on their network? Coz my understanding is that Sky News is actually intended for viewers in the UK and Ireland? Are there any countries around our region that has it? I dont think even Singapore has this channel..
I was staying in Hong Kong and they had Sky News on there. It is intended for UK and Ireland viewers but of course a lot of stories are international and people in this part of the world love their English football stories too.

If Unifi want to compete with Astro, they should try give customers of Astro what Astro wont give..for one, let them pick the channels that they want..not come bundled in one..Unifi should try emulate what ESPN has done in the UK..they bid for EPL rights and won 1/4 rights to show matches with the rest going to Sky..ESPN is available on Sky's platform..so the money for subscription for the ESPN channel will go to ESPN and at the same time Sky would still get their share of the subscription fee..
Yup but that deal came after EU competition bosses stopped them selling EPL exclusively to Sky. They now are forced to sell matches in 8 packages and one broadcaster can only buy a maximum of 6, that's why Setanta got the other 2 and then were taken over by ESPN. Basically Malaysia needs the same competition measures to dent Astro's dominance but you and I know know the likelyhood of that is slim.

What I would like to see is the IMG Premier League channel take over all broadcast of the Premire League coverage here so those Richard Keys, Andy Gray, martin Tyler, wannabes would watch he shows instead of being on it.. I really hope we can get to see John Dykes and his gang than the wannabes Astro gives us week in week out..At least in Singapore, its equally divided between the local production and international production..

Richard Keys and Andy Gray are wannabes nowadays, fired by Sky and working for talk radio. biggrin.gif
