Local gaming channel.. 24 hours of DotA, Counter Strike, Starcraft, GTA ++

Bermula 1 Jun ini, stesen TV berkonsepkan Islam, TV AlHijrah akan bersiaran di Asdtro saluran 114, demikian diumumkan oleh Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom.

Beliau berkata tujuan kemasukan stesen TV berkenaan ke dalam Astro adalah bagi memberi peluang kepada lebih ramai penonton di negara ini untuk menikmati siaran stesen TV berkenaan.

"Siaran TV AlHijrah (sebelum ini) begitu terhad. Kita menerima permintaan begitu banyak daripada masyarakat supaya mereka dapat menonton TV AlHijrah. Jadi ini kita lakukan (memasukkan siaran TV AlHijrah ke dalam Astro)," katanya kepada pemberita pada sidang media di Pusat Penyiaran Digital TV AlHijrah, Kompleks Pusat Islam, di Kuala Lumpur, hari ini.

Turut hadir ialah Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif TV AlHijrah, Bukhari Che Muda.

Jamil Khir berkata selaras dengan kemasukan stesen TV berkenaan ke dalam Astro, waktu siaran turut ditingkatkan daripada 72 jam seminggu kepada 100 jam seminggu.

"Hari Isnin sehingga Khamis, TV ini (AlHijrah) akan bersiaran seperti biasa dari pukul 12 tengah hari sehingga 12 tengah malam manakala pada hari Jumaat, Sabtu dan Ahad akan bersiaran dari pukul 7 pagi sehingga 12 tengah malam," katanya sambil menjelaskan pihakya akan memanjangkan waktu siaran sehingga 24 jam sehari sekiranya mendapat permintaan tinggi daripada penonton.

Ditanya mengenai persaingan yang bakal diterima apabila stesen TV berkenaan apabila memasuki Astro kelak, Jamil Khir berkata, pihaknya hanya ingin memenuhi selera penonton di negara ini yang sentiasa mahukan kelainan dari segi kandungan siaran.

"Kita akui persaingan memang ada. Sebab itu kita mempelbagaikan program seperti (rancangan realiti TV) Solehah yang antara lain bertujuan untuk melahirkan lebih ramai pendakwah wanita di negara ini," katanya sambil menjelaskan rancangan-rancangan yang bertemakan wajah-wajah Islam seperti Madrasah AlHijrah, Refleksi dan Khidmat Syariah akan turut disiarkan pada 1 Jun
nanti.

Ditanya adakah stesen TV berkenaan akan memperluaskan siarannya bagi negeri-negeri yang tidak mendapat liputan, Jamil Khir berkata pihaknya sedang mengadakan perbincangan dengan kerajaan negeri dan juga pihak berwajib seperti Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia (SKMM) bagi membolehkan lebih banyak pemancar dipasang di negeri-negeri berkenaan.

"Kita sedang mempercepatkan proses (pemasangan pemancar). Apa yang menjadi halangan kita ialah tentang spektrum atau saluran yang begitu terhad di negeri-negeri yang memerlukan .

If Assthrow is so... money minded, they may want to add more HD Assthrow 1ST channels.

MEASAT Seals 10 Year Broadband Deal With Thaicom

KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 (Bernama) -- MEASAT Global Bhd Monday signed a 10-year deal with Thailand's sole private satellite operator, Thaicom Public Company Ltd, to provide bandwidth capacity and its related broadband services in Malaysia, to be called MEASAT 5.

Thaicom, the operator of the Thaicom-4 (IPSTAR) satellite fleet, announced that the agreement was signed with a subsidiary of MEASAT.

Sources said the 10-year agreement will begin this year, however, the name of MEASAT subsidiary that sealed the deal was not disclosed.

It is believed the subsidiary could be a new unit yet to be established and will be announced later.

Commenting on the deal, MEASAT Global Chairman Datuk Umar Abu said the MEASAT-5 initiative was in line with the satellite communication service supplier's mission to being the satellite operator of choice for the Malaysian Information and Communication Technology industry.

"Our partnership with THAICOM on this project will allow MEASAT to expand its support to local telecommunication companies in providing connectivity to all areas of Malaysia in line with the National Broadband Initiative project," he was quoted as saying in a statement released by Thaicom in Nonthaburi, north-west Bangkok.

It said the MEASAT subsidiary would secure a major portion of IPSTAR capacity over Malaysia allowing the MEASAT unit to become the IPSTAR National Satellite Operator with exclusive rights to provide bandwidth capacity and its related broadband services in Malaysia.

The total bandwidth capacity from the seven spot beams across Peninsula and East Malaysia on the Malaysian payload of the IPSTAR satellite is approximately 1,894MHz, capable of delivering 3.3 Gigabits-per-second of Internet Protocol connectivity.

"This amounts to seven per cent of total bandwidth capacity of IPSTAR satellite. The Malaysian payload will be marketed as MEASAT-5," it added.

In addition, MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn Bhd will secure the existing IPSTAR gateway equipment which will be moved to the MEASAT Teleport and Broadcast Centre in Cyberjaya.

MEASAT plans to provide the bandwidth capacity on MEASAT-5 to existing and new telecommunication operators and service providers across the country for mobile backhaul services and to support government initiatives including the Universal Service Provisioning to areas with little or no terrestrial connectivity.

Both MEASAT and THAICOM have ensured continuity of service for existing IPSTAR customers in Malaysia.

The IPSTAR broadband satellite is one of the largest communication satellite ever launched, delivering broadband services to millions of users to over 14 countries in Asia-Pacific, with a bandwidth capacity of more than 45 Gbps.

It currently provides full nationwide broadband satellite services in 13 countries with 17 gateways in Australia, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, The Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

Hakikatnya, walaupun percuma, tetapi untuk mendapatkan semua saluran TV itu, rakyat kena membayar atau dalam erti kata lain, menjadi pelanggan secara tidak langsung dengan Astro. Ini berikutan transmisi TV1, TV2 malahan TV3, TV9 begitu juga 8TV dan ntv9 tidak berkualiti dan kabur kalau tidak menggunakan pancaran satelit Astro.

Kita tidak tahu pihak mana yang hendak dipersalahkan. Realitinya penduduk di sekitar Pantai Dalam di Kuala Lumpur yang tidak jauh dari kompleks penyiaran Angkasapuri atau RTM menerima siaran TV tidak jelas, apatah lagi kalau di tempat lain.
Kita sering mendengar rungutan rakyat mengenai siaran TV yang tidak bermutu ini. Rungutan ini bukan saja daripada penduduk di desa, tetapi juga daripada rakyat di bandar atau pinggir bandar.

Hehe. But seriously, I'm in love with MTVNHD!
