I notice that AF in HD today is not as sharp and vivid in color compared with previous assthrow live show like those shown on ZZ. Nevertheless, it is still much better than Ria channel rite?

Sure is. Question is, when will we have permenant HD malay channel? hmm.gif

Not enough bandwidth at the moment I think. Assthrow may use up the limited bandwidth to introduce Indopek and charge extra.

Sorry for asking about this once more, but prior to activation, is it normal for the TV to not detect any signal from the decoder? As in the HDMI cable is already connected, but the TV fails to recognize the source, and thus fails to display anything at all, apart from an error message.

Called Astro, and they're just as clueless doh.gif

My decoder displays this, "C 101" and I can't change the channel or anything.
*
C101 = channel 101.
U mean your tv screen is totally blank? How could the installer leave without properly install the set?

I honestly do not know what the installer did, or what Astro is trying to do. I was sleeping when the installers did it. My parents were monitoring them. And apparently, they left just after saying that it'll all be good in an hours time.

Yeap, channel 101. But I can't seem to change the channel. It sticks to channel 101, but the decoder receives the signal from my remote (The LED blinks, so yeah).

I'll try to explain this in the best way possible. You know when you connect your PS3 to your HD TV via the HDMI cable? If you do not switch on your PS3, nothing would appear on your screen apart from a message that's like this "No source detected/check signal" (This is on my TV, which is a Samsung LED TV model). After you switch it on, only then the television receives information from the PS3, and the screen goes black, and there you have your PS3 menu.

Right now, all I see is the screen that I get when I connect a PS3 that is NOT switched on yet, to my television.

I hope you get it.

They took all the wires, so I can't try right now :/ And I don't think that's the problem, because I can't even change the channels. Wow.. all the hype, and their service is as poor as this. Each time I call them up, they'd just tell me this, "Oh.. it'll be alright in about 24 hours"
*
Can you confirm with Assthrow whether your byond subscription is activated on their system? If their system shows your byond set is not activated then ask them to expedite it. If the set is not activated within their so called 24 hours, then shoot them and better you talk with the manager on duty.

If your beyond set is activated then I suspect it is the connection between your byond set and tv is having issue. Maybe you can switch your ps3 hdmi cable with assthrow byond cable and see whether your assthrow HDMI is faulty or not. I tend to believe your hdmi cable is faulty or the issue lies more on hdmi connection. Because if your byond set is not activated, it will show a message saying your card is not activated and ask you to contact Assthrow on your tv screen. Now you are saying your tv couldn't even detect signal from your byond set.

If the above still can't ascertain your issue, bring your byond set with the card to Assthrow customer service in your area, if any. Ask them to activate for you on the spot.

Okay guys, I managed to yank out a video out cable from my store room, and I connected it to my TV. Yeap, now I see the, "Please insert smart card bla bla.. or call Astro for any assistance". This is what I was actually waiting to see all these while doh.gif

So I'm guessing I'm on the same boat as stuffx right now?
*
1) Your HD service is not activated so no signal from your hdmi port; and
2) Your decoder can't detect your card or your byond set is yet to be activated.

Even from 2m feel like not HD much. If their bitrate was at 7-8mbps, it should be higher for motion video. Like at 10-11mbps.

On full motion, it's noticable a little than still frame. (with MPEG reduction on)

Could be the Assthrow bit rate issue then. They are now testing more HD and SD channels now. So, additional channels broadcast quality may be compromised.

My STB was beyond set. Just called to upgrate to superpack 3 by phone on last thusday 9th Jun. They activated the superpack3 within 5 minute on that day. I also asked for PVR set as well. The installer come to installed on saturday 4.00pm. So far are OK. The most important thing is need to update the software version, otherwise your sd channel just Zoom and center cut function only.
*
That's fast within 3 days u gotten PVR installed.

based on astro web page, Rm400 for SD old decoder customer upgrading to byond PVR

My advice would be upgrade to normal byond set which is foc and then later upgrade to pvr then you pay RM150 for it, if still need to pay RM400 to upgrade from normal old decoder to PVR.

Hi guys,

I received a letter from astro saying my next bill will be RM132.95  instead of my current bill RM125.95 so I went to call Astro CS (Nadia) and ask her to change my packages to Super Pack 1.

So, 5 minutes later, I got the package already...my wife smiles because she got to watch Maharaja Lawak tongue.gif

Now, to my question...
Super Pack include HD & Recording service..so does this means I can swap my byond box with PVR box for free OR just have the ability to use PVR?
*
U need to pay RM150 for PVR set for promo until Sep'11. Else, you buy external HDD at approximately RM200++ for recording purpose using your normal byond set.

Is it just me, or anyone else noticed the pixelation of ch.551 Discovery feed on some programme? It's bad. doh.gif

It could be Assthrow trying to adjust all its channels bandwidth to accomodate new channels to be introduced soon. So in the time of trial and error in this testing period, you may see some obvious degradation of certain channels PQ and AQ quality.

I got something to ask. Currently my subcription is movie,sport,3 mini without byond. Btw im using 2 astro at home, so the second set is 50% cheaper. Currently my bill is 110+55 before tax = 165 permonth. If i dont change anything, it will rise to 117+58= 175. But i like the superpack 1 coz by adding bit more i can get hd channels too. But if i change to superpack 1 for 125, will my 2nd set still enjoy 50% off?

Added on June 18, 2011, 5:09 pmOh and can i change mustika to metro for superpack 1? They should let us choose the plus package for super pack, not everyone wants mustika.
*
Your 2 astro set with the same package now?
If both are the same package and if you change to superpack 1 for both, then the 2nd decoder can get 50% off.

yes currently both astro on same package. what if i only want superpack 1 for one astro only, then the other set with different package still will have 50%?
*
It depends on the terms & conditions your 50% for 2nd decoder. The earlier batch of the 50% is where the 2nd decoder can be higher than the 1st decoder set and the later is the opposite where the 2nd decoder can't be higher than the 1st decoder package.

Understand the stupid and greedy ASSTHROW flag their so-called new system to disable all 50% decoder package upgrade higher than 1st set now.

I called astro to confirm about the dual cable to PVR but the guy told that no need to install additional cable.
He said the installer will "do something" so that the PVR can watch and record different channel at the same time.
I'm currently using Byond HD and I have personally connect a splitter to my existing cable so that I can have two cable: one to my Byond HD decoder and one to my other normal SD decoder. icon_idea.gif
When my inlaws come to my house, they will bring their smart card and plug in to the old decoder to watch their channel while I have wireless transmitter from HD decoder to 2nd TV in my room to watch my own channel. rclxms.gif
The only thing is that, if I switch my HD decoder to HD channel, the old decoder will show "service currently not available" on the 1st TV.
Wonder the "do something" as claimed by astro is to install the similar splitter. hmm.gif
*
Never heard the PVR can watch 1 channel and record another channel (if 1 is SD and another is HD) with only 1 cable. You might be fooled by ASSTHROW misrepresentation.
