Im seeing the calls for Sky News to be kept permanent is growing louder and so it should be bcoz of the quality of the channel..surely Astro are considering it since they have given the channel a 4 day preview for an event that only takes one day..are Astro testing the waters on whether this channel will be popular among viewers? Of course its popular..its something different to what we already have and based on Astro's FB, its already popular..

Again though, a question for all the sifus out there, which South Est Asain or even Asian country actually carries Sky News or Sky News HD on their network? Coz my understanding is that Sky News is actually intended for viewers in the UK and Ireland? Are there any countries around our region that has it? I dont think even Singapore has this channel..

Singapore -.-

I'm not kidding!

http://www.starhub.com/tv/packagebuilder.html?product=basic
http://www.starhub.com/entertainment/channel/skynews.html

Then again, Between Starhub and Mio, they have all the f$<#!^& channel available to Asia. Something we can only wish for over here.

Does not take likely eh? Explain why you won't heed viewers' call for Discovery HD then. Not going to let them go until they bring in Discovery HD. Accident or not, already advertise the channel, must bring it if have demand. And Boomerang.

The issue is that those reporters at the Assthrow event are Assthrow friendly. Just report those things spur out by Rohana and paste onto their reporting.

Astro wl never bring channels which refuse to JV with them thats for sure it is not easy to be thier provider! An example ,they invested 20% in Sun Network and they control the local network here ! Time slots are sold to local advertisers for advertisement revenue!Just like that they want control on the channels and the contents as well.BBCE was not interested and took off !Everybody else in the world has Discovery HD but astro in NOT interested ! Sure it was a deal problem! hmm.gif

Well the only privelage is that they hv full BN backing and that NO competitors were allowed, they remain sole provider until today!

NO competitors

Not to say no competitors. The competitors all have crippling weaknesses. MiTV: Died because clueless (they have potential... but lousy coverage, and they overprice their package and make people buy decoder when Astro was giving away decoders for "free"). DETV: niche market because clueless (and almost all channels are Chinese, and when I requested for a channel, they ask "how contact the channel ah? Got people there speak Mandarin? We no speak good Engrish"). UniFi: Lousy coverage (only certain areas have) and cannot unbundle and take TV only.

Yes, our Easter monday match was live on sky sports so I'm not surprised they showed the highlights on sky news! Unfortunately, I got my internet back right After full time so I couldn't stream it sad.gif

Haven't seen the highlights yet, so I'll take your word for it. In all honesty who cares?! We're champions!

Would be great if Astro's IPTV had better coverage, even better if they can service housing areas which will not likely to be. sad.gif

I guess it depends on what you would like to watch. Sports fans definitely would still have to go back to Astro no matter what. Astro's IPTV also means no disruptions during rain which is also important for me. Also, at 6mbps for RM149 (compared to UniFi's 5mbps for RM149), sure seems good to me too espcially when it is serviced by TIME which I had pretty good experience with their service in the past compared to TM's.

I hv to agree with you on that, at the same time I feel giving Astro full exclusive control of EPL was unfair! 6 mbps at RM149 is fine ,how about your astro channels, how much wld that add up to? unsure.gif

Apparently the Astro channels subscription fee remains the same as those on the satellite dish, it's just that you will definitely have to subscribe to their Internet service as well. So it's the Internet package together with your Astro subscription fee (depending on the package/channels you subscribed).

Do correct me if I'm wrong about the subscription fees.

Yes u are right ,the basic astro subsription is added to the IPTV charges,so if one takes unifi then he has more choice of Tv then to take the whole from astro.

Apparently my neighbourhood just got unifi. Since I'm so sick of streamyx I'm probably going to give them a go (although I hear they are also run by TM and not very reliable). This means I get their TV service too, right? I'll let you guys know how it compares to astro if I do get it.
