Anyway these days people are getting more modern. Things we 'oldfolk' enjoy aren't going to get the same treatment anymore. Which kid these days still eat those awsum breads? Most will go secret recipe, auntie anne, jco, krispy kreme, big apple, insert-more-expensive-bread-or-snack. As they say, 'tak standard la beli roti2 centuh'.

I think this is more than just the dying of a trade, is signals the dying for solidarity between Malaysians too. We prefer the impersonal act of picking things of wide and high shelves and dealing with cashier who are usually no more than barcode scanners. We even pack out own goods into the plastic bags ourselves. Hole ourselves up in the house, in the car, in the small group we go out with. We don't run out of the house without slippers anymore, we have to hide out legs beneath branded shoes, from what I don't know, the sun? our neighbors?

1) more highrise in urban, less chance for rotiman

2) gated housing areas

3) high crime rate, ppl lock up their door/gate and close it, hard to hear, leceh to come out to buy roti, kids dont play outside house anymore.

4) kids not at home - tuition all the time/play computer dont want to come to buy snak

Added on April 14, 2011, 11:50 am5) majlis/polis always stop them to kacau.

Added on April 14, 2011, 11:51 am6) younger generation do not want to work this job as it not comfort/dont pay well since education level now higher than long ago. pejam mata lulus dapat ijazah.

LOL, my place has 3 ice cream motor vendor, 1st is mat kool, the other is polar which I really like the song ("P-O-L-A-R, ais krim polar!"), but my favourite is the magnolia ais krim motor vendor, because their ice cream tastes best among all 3....
