> Celcom mobile internet, How to know when we reach the quota?

I just signed up for celcom's 1gb mobile internet package, rm38 per month. They told me once I finished using the 1gb they will not charge extra instead they will block the internet access totally. Then they told me they won't send any notification to inform me that I've reached my limit. The only way for me to know I've exceeded limit is when I suddenly get cut off. They also told me if I continue surfing/online they will charge me as PAYU.

Now i'm confused here. Is it true that the only way for me to know I've reached my 1gb limit is when I suddenly get cut off when surfing? Hdo I know I get cut off because I've reached limit or because of bad reception? And if they going to charge me as PAYU after 1gb, what do they mean by "Once customer reaches the monthly allocated volume for Celcom Mobile Internet plans excluding data roaming, the Internet access will be blocked". Allowing internet access after 1gb and then charging it as PAYU is definitely not blocking internet access. I feel kind of cheated.

Can anyone explain this to me?

Thank you in advance.

They won't throttle speed, internet access will be blocked.
But then after that can still connect to internet, and they will charge it as PAYU. So that's why I'm seriously confused sweat.gif

Is no one else using Celcom's 1gb RM38 mobile internet for their phones?

I'm using the RM 38 package too. I normally keep track of my data usage by visiting Celcom online customer service website frequently. I've never exceed my quota before. As far as I know, once u exceed, it's pay per use.

So we can check by calling them? Ok that's good I guess. Right now I'm using an app called data quota to monitor data usage. Hope it's accurate enough.
Looks like Celcom is just the same like Maxis, wants to trap customers into PAYU.

Don't think it says anywhere about PAYU. They just say internet access will be blocked once you exceed quota. link, http://www.celcom.com.my/broadband/plans_minternet_fup.php . Read para no 3.

as i know mobile internet is for postpaid customer only, right?
That mean you will able to login to web to check usage.
as i know prepaid not able to apply RM38/1G mobile internet. ( correct me if i wrong )

prepaid only can use daily broadband or weekly...

after login, go to
My account > Fair Usage Policy > Check usage
then search by date/month

btw, i'm using my bb for backup only. It's old package with streamyx, called (Data Only-Home, Hop&Away ) RM108.
So you will see my usage is low.
And my speed recently is 1.5Mbps everage....

Then only you are able to sign up online account.

Hey thanks for the link. That makes things a lot easier.
I've just checked mine and it says there allocated volume is 5gb?! I only subscribed to 1gb. I noticed yours is 5gb too and you also only subscribe to 1gb right? So is the stated 5gb normal?
I don't want to pay more that RM38 per month!

haha, bonus quota?
mine is "special" package with streamyx last time ago. So i never use over 5GB, no ideal.
But the column next to it got remark there. Maybe after 1GB, they will slow down your speed.
But now if you see your package become 5GB @ RM38 ( mBacis ), that's funny....celcom system problem?
then NO 1 will pay RM98 mPro to get 5GB.

according celcom FUP, if exceed your package eg 1GB, they will block.
But i think they only allow you to access with slower speed.
Anyway, no extra charge if exceed.

1) Upon reaching 80% of the monthly allocation volume (depending on the plan subscribed), an SMS and / or email notification will be sent;
2) Upon reaching 100% of the monthly allocation volume, (depending on the plan subscribed), an SMS and / or email notification will be sent; and Internet access will be blocked thereafter until the next bill cycle.

good luck!

Btw a friend told me celcom is giving free 4GB until June. I think that explains my 5GB in the quota column. Boss if this is true!

Usually this kind of light surfing and messenger won't take up much bandwidth one. Should be sufficient. What you should worry about is the video streaming.

That 1 is a "killer" quote. doh.gif

Not sure myself abt the speed. I think it's stated la on their website, under broadband link.
What I know is the speed is slower than most, so probably slower than 3.6. Should be ok though for surfing on the phone, unless u want to use your phone for tethering

I gave up calling them, because really their CS ppl know nothing. They are not even sure whether there will be extra charge if exceed 1GB in the RM38 plan, and if no extra charge will they throttle speed or cut connection completely.

1)  Upon reaching 80% of the monthly allocation volume (depending on the plan subscribed), an SMS and / or email notification will be sent;
2) Upon reaching 100% of the monthly allocation volume, (depending on the plan subscribed), an SMS and / or email notification will be sent; and Internet access will be blocked thereafter until the next bill cycle.

good luck!

I exceed my limit and use pay per use without notice. Guess what, i have to paid RM250! Fu*k celcom. When calculate it, 10kbs = RM0.10, 1MB= RM10. Which i just used 25MB and have to pay RM250! ridiculous.

Wow this is new. What I know after exceed limit speed will be throttled without extra charge.
Normally maxis users face this problem, never heard from celcom users before.

When I subscirbed to RM38 M Basic plan last year. The Celcom staff said when usage reached 1GB service will terminate and user will need to manualy subscribed to daily plan of RM3 compared to RM5.

Pay per use charge is 10cents/1kilobyte. So 10Mbyte will be RM100. The RM250 is the maximum they charged before the service is disconnected.

Activities' or usages of the Service exceeding the monthly volume allocation respectively, your speed will be throttled until the next bill cycle with or without prior notice to you. This throttled speed will take effect from the moment your volume has exceeded its allocation by Celcom and will continue until your next billing cycle. Subsequently, your volume allocation will be reset and your will enjoy their initial service as per the above table.

Guys need some clarifications, appreciate if any sifus could help me...

Currently im using DIGI just voice plan..
Now i planned to get new phone at CELCOM, Sony Xperia S, ofcourse with data + voice plan...
i have checked at CELCOM website and not clear about certain things, since first time planning for mobil internet...

For Sony Xperia S

EXEC plan they has 88/108/250...which already include (voice plan + mobil internet)
Mobile internet plan the speed up to 3.6mbps , regardless volume 1GB/3GB/5GB as per their website..

DATA + VOICE PPU plan they has 48/68/98 (celcom broadband + voice)

Celcom broadband plan the speed varies based on the volume, even about that info i got to know from samsung tab package.. for sony they never mentioned the speed, i dont know why...

http://www.celcom.com.my/smartphones/tablets.php#tablet1

48 - up to 700kbps 1.5GB
68 - up to 1.5mbps 4GB
98 - up to 3.6mbps... 6GB

So i confused, why the mobil internet the speed standard and celcom broadband varies... Talking about internet usage in mobile, is via 3G right.. so mobile internet make sense..

How the celcom broadband connection will be linked to handphone ?

personally i feel that (DATA+VOICE PPU) - RM98 6GB plan is worth...
but i just dont know how it works...

Last time they only throttle down the speed. Just realized they will block the access once u reached the limit. Celcom y u so tricky

" Activities' or usages of the Service exceeding the monthly volume allocation respectively, your data usage will be blocked until the next bill cycle with or without prior notice to you. To continue enjoy data usage, additional volume purchase can be done by sending BROADBAND VOL to 22188 from your Celcom mobile number. The price and data volume allocation for additional volume purchase as follow"

QUOTE(luckyhillkop @ Apr 12 2011, 11:18 PM)

Guys,

I am using celcom mbasic mobile Internet ,and for the last 3 months ,my quota finishes within first week.
But before this it will not even finish until end of the month.
My Internet usage pattern is same as before.
I have checked and disabled all the apps that i suspect running and draining my data usage but still the same,
Anyone else have the same problem ?

Thanks.

ive been celcom loyal customer since... 2002... now they r changing their mobile data policy like crazy.. their simply not appreciate their customer anymore..their r becoming very greedy = 'lintah darat'...

digi n umobile ...will not stop, upon reaching their data quotas, they just throttle the speed n no extra charge ... how could celcom becoming so so stupid..

now i'm planning to ported to other telcos... new UMI 18/28 prepaid by Umobile seem to be good...
