HSBC is one of the worst cards I had before.
The chronicles of my bad encounter with them:
1) Applied for this card in MV when they had their promo for the Huawei tablet in August. I knew that I will not spend that much, so I told the agent that I cannot achieve that. She told me can do BT and I can pay it in full. So, I remembered that both my AmEx and OCBC Ti had some outstanding that time which the due dates had not come. I agreed and she took down the particular of my AmEx and OCBC Ti.

2) After 3 weeks no news of the card arrival and finally it came in early September when I was about to fly off to overseas. Called their CS and checked out if the BT is done and when will I get the tablet. The CS told me, I'm not eligible for the tablet anymore as my card was approved after the promo ended. She then told me I'm eligible for the Cerruti Watch promo but I told her, it's men watches and I'm not interested. Since that's the case I didn't want to proceed with my BT anymore.

3) BT was charged on 30th September, about a month after I received my card! Called CS while I was in overseas and voiced out my dissatisfaction. He told me will check it out and call me back...

4) Nobody called me back and I was also travelling that time, so I reckon nothing can be done but to accept the BT now... At least I will have the watch.

5) Finally somebody called me on 20th Oct, 2 days ago. Yeah, after 3 weeks and told me the BT cannot be reversed anymore. I said "good job" for calling me back after 3 weeks. I said I have already accepted it and will make full payment to HSBC once it is due. I asked when can I get my watch and now he said I'm also not eligible for this promo as my card was tagged to the Huawei tablet!

I feel stupid to be thrown anywhere as they like. I feel like cancelling this card after I have made the payment and applied for other banks. Damn it.

Hmm...sorry to hear that story...
As I know, the Free Huawei tablet promotion is only start on 08 Oct 2014 ---> 08 Jan 2015, right?

I think mine was the previous one. Ended in August.

I pity u...
So... what u going to do now ???

Yes, I'm going to cancel the card but I paid RM 50 (GST) for nothing.
Sigh. Should I keep it until next anniversary?
I'm still very angry though, the way how they treated me as if I'm begging for their stuff.

If u have swipes 3X times with Your Card just wait for Your 3rd Statement when GST Credit back to Your Account before Proceed to Card Cancellation so that U got nothing to lose on...

Twice. Once in local and once in overseas.

Just swipes 1 more time (i mean 3x times all U Need) you will get GST Credit back to Your Account on your 3rd Statement U baru cancel It... lah

Yeah, standard is 3 times (i believe), but you can call to confirm about this. The 3 times should within 30 days or 60 days.... right?

OK, I will call the CS to confirm again.
I hate calling them as it is difficult to get their CS by doing the selection over phone...

I took note of advice from another forumer. Can complain via email to HSBC and CC Bank Negara (bnmtelelink [at] bnm.gov.my). I strongly believe you will get what you deserve if you're on the right side.

To entitle for RM50 cash back, just need to swipe one time within 30 days from the date of welcome letter.

Btw, the tablet promo is now open to existing customers

My card was approved on 30th august and Ive swiped within 30 days. But until today I havent received the waiver for RM50 gst. How long does it usually take?

Normalyl within 2-3 statement. For mine, I get it at 2nd statement.

Hmmm... read the TnC, seems like the tablet is kinda "guaranteed" upon approval of cc, not like limited to x number of unit on first come first serve basis like the previous promo by Ringgit Plus. Too good to be true....
And also applied to existing card holders? Wow, hsbc will be flooded with new applications and degraded in application services

my friend got the tablet from the previous round of promotion. So I applied this time. Got an email that card has just been approved.
