HSBC Classic VISA and HSBC Classic MasterCard will officially come to an end come this August. HSBC took down the VISA Platinum credit card from their website a few months ago. I guess it will be added back soon.

current VISA Classic -> VISA Gold
current MasterCard Classic -> MasterCard Gold
current VISA Gold -> VISA Platinum

There is no mention what will replace the current MasterCard Gold.

hi all sifus

just went to HSBC roadshow yesterday at MV.

they told me i can apply for HSBC Amanah Platinum Card. When i ask about the charges, they told me is 12 swipe/year to waive the annual fees. they will also give me rm50 rebate as a "waiver" for 1st year GST. Is there any other charges that i need to pay for using this card? when i check the website i found there is monthly management charges.

anyone know what is this monthly management charges? it is quite expensive (rm2.7k monthly)

thanks biggrin.gif

According to the statement released by HSBC, it will involve only credit cards issued by HSBC.

Hi Guys,

I have updgraded my HSBC MasterCard GOLD (Conventional) to HSBC Advance Platinum (Conventional), but when I received the card last friday, it's HSBC Adavance Platinum AMANAH!

I do not want Amanah card, and my Advance Account is Conventional Account, not AMANAH.

Now that I called HSBC to verify, some of them said I need to re-apply again, and some said my Credit Card is actually Conventional Card in their System, but the card I received definitely have AMANAH on it!

Anyone encounter this before?

I just posted a short article on HSBC MPower Plat card-i at my blog. As usaul, HSBC promos are insincere and with conditions.

The 6% cash back is not a permanent card feature. The promotion ends on 31 December 2011.
The cash back is capped at RM50 per month.
The cash back is only applicable at Shell, Petronas, Caltex, Giant, Tesco and Carrefour. AND you must spend minimum RM200 per month.
If you spend between RM200 - RM3000 monthly, the cash back that you will earn is only 3% at the participating merchants.
In order to earn 6% cash back, you need to spend RM3,001 and above for all categories.

You always need to read the fine print. Don't get too excited with the bold prints and jumped in. It is a mistake many consumers would do. I was nearly fooled too when I saw the ad and the potential 6% rebate was an eye catcher.

Then when reading the fine print, saw the T&C.
