All brother & sister, just get my phone yesterday with "self-cum" plan.first time using android phone and would like to ask all brother sister help's on my following question. tongue.gif

1.if i flash my phone to HK rom, what is the risk i need to know (e.g. local sim card, sms, setting for 3g.etc).

2.beside using pc to update,is there any other place to get update?( till now the pc tools still mention my firmware is the latest (V10A) which not give me the V10D )

3.any good website for android apps? (games, apps etc which update regularly)

p.s: Would like to share some of my felling on the product we buy at our " lovely land" country.i don't know is our lovely land too far from the country made ( korea, china, ) or other reason, the product we buy always get the last update or totally no update. For example this phone,my samxxxg smart led tv ( which other country like hk,us even thai have the latest firmware to fix the bug ),my another phixxxs led tv facing the same.or even some of the extreme funny news from newspaper regarding our FMCG product which get complaint or certified got problem from other country. The same product import from the country maker, but base on our newspaper on our side is "SAFE AND NO PROBLEM" which already making lot's of complaint from other country.eg.the milk powder case last 2 years, the jacky chan shampoo, fish canned food from china case.Just wonder is the product we buy not same ingredients with other country which from the same country maker? or what we buy is top quality than other country which the maker separate the process solely for our lovely land?or our product no need update one.which i think we already lost our consumer rights on this issue.

just share out my feeling which not on the right forum and thanks for your time on reading this.

by the way, really wish this phone can change our mind to continue support which i think 2x is a potential and worth to buy............

Thank you.

Backup all your data, flash to Cyanogen Mod 7 directly.

Anything else just ignore it.

About the apps, just find yourself or ask around.
I don't play games regularly but I prefer to do a tester for different ROMs smile.gif

Nightly 5 is on !
http://mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=p990

Added on May 4, 2011, 6:09 pmAs requested, some newcomers asked for guide to flashing.
I will try to help some, while I suggest the best method is make some research/study on XDA forums, ESPECIALLY those replies.

You would need:
ROM Manager (Get it from Market)
Clockworkmod Recovery (Install from ROM Manager)
Smartflash for P990 (Windows only)
HK Stock ROM
Super One Click Root

Optional Install:
Stock ROM Performance Patch
AOSP style lockscreen
Silent Screen Capture
Batter Percentage Mod
New System Font
You can find more on XDA

Download and install Super One Click on your computer.
Enable USB Debugging at Applications>Development>USB Debugging
After that plug in your usb and leave your phone there.
Now open Super One Click on your computer.
Click 'ROOT'
Let the process run, after it's done.
Then Rooting is completed smile.gif
Now you just download the latest HK Stock ROM (v10D) from the Firmware thread.
[Because they've updated it so you don't need to flash to v10a then flash to v10d, save a lot of time biggrin.gif]
If you just got your phone, it means nothing else installed, you go to market to download the ROM Manager.
Install it, click the first item in the menu : 'Flash Clockworkmod Recovery'
It will prompt you for SuperUser Access and you grant it.
After flashing complete it will show the version of your CWM Rocovery.

After flashing CWM you get ready your firmware you just downloaded.
Plug in USB and enable Mass Storage.
Put it inside your EXTERNAL SD card (Not INTERNAL)
After it's done, turn off your phone.
Turn it on while pressing power button + volume down button until the 'ANDROID' word shows.
Hands off and scroll through the menu with volume up/down button.
Power button is like 'enter' in CWM.
Scroll down and choose 'wipe data/factory reset'.
Optional Step (?) Choose 'advanced' and choose 'wipe dalvid cache'
After wiping it you choose 'install zip from sdcard'
then choose 'choose zip from sdcard'
Choose the firmware zip and confirm.
Wait it flash and reboot the system.
See whether you get a bootloop or success smile.gif

Ok, thats good to know. I guess it's better to go for ori set, then, just to be safe so can easily exchange if theres any problem.
*
sorry to say that.there is no exchange on what you have bought.trust me,i'm having rebooting problem ( before flash to hk rom ) and hang on some game and bring back to LG service center. my one is ori.

Ori set does have HDMI cable before (limited units)
You can buy it seperately somebody said it's just around RM 35 or so

Added on May 5, 2011, 8:23 pmAn advice to all newbie of Android.
If you're trying to flash a custom ROM, try not to flash CM7 Nightly because it got a lot of bugs and problems.
Custom ROM that are stable are many around the XDA forum, go the Android Development Section and choose your desire ROM.
If you insist then you may neglect this advice, just try to be kind and remind smile.gif

i also got my o2x with the price RM1780 at LOWYAT 3 days ago...mine is ORI set with cable + charger + 8gb memory + earphone + manual + phone + battery...no HDMI thou...
*

Is depends on who you buy from.if you sign up "self-cum" plan, then the hdmi is together. If you buy from LG Malaysia or authorized shop, they will say i will free you hdmi cable but actually the cable is come with the box.my self i bought from self-cum plan cause the plan is quick worth it.(FOR ME)

RM1428 + RM88x12 mths contract = RM2484

RM2484 - RM1750 ( cheapest ori price so far i check ) = RM734

RM734 / 12 MTHS = RM61.16

RM61.16 = my normal monthly usage + some more now got internet usage which my poastpaid last time don't have.

*RM300 pay in advance later minus rm25 from your monthly bil so at the end you still pay RM88 per months.

so for rm88 package.. how much that i hav to pay on first bil to get the phone?
rm88+rm1374+rm300?
rm1374+rm300?
*
RM300 + hp price (depends which package)

unless you are celcom user,rm300 no need to pay.

By the way,see lots of O2X thread in lowyat.net keep asking the hdmi cable got free or not. for my opinion, first of all you better check yourself are you gonna to output to TV or Monitor.if monitor, the length is fair enough. But if you output to LCD TV,then this ori hdmi MIGHT not suit you cause it too short.(depends how far your lcd tv set).is better u bought yourself a long mini hdmi cable.

Seems like there's an app called move2sd or something like that.
Someone's using SPB3D as their launcher, wait for their reply..

Haha, I'm so happy..
A .ts file (Transport Stream) video file which cost 9GB/hour, played smoothly on my mac tongue.gif

What a great response from Heav3nCl0ud! will try the apps you mention.

I think now we should go for further step to discuss the apps we don't need in O2X.( is depends on user usage, just to share ).cause i think there must be some way to reduce the useless apps so that we can get more ram.myself i really scare to remove it cause i really don't know what is this apps function. For those who did done this step please share out for us,or site already discuss this before.

Thanks to all contributor on this thread!!! thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Well, you can find which app is running in the background at Settings>Applications>Running Service.
If you found any app you don't use and it's running, you can uninstall it with Titanium Backup
(Make sure that app is not a system service or widget you use or something else, please MAKE SURE)
I think you can free more RAM by that wink.gif

WhatsApp runs constantly in the background so no need to try so hard to stop it or whatsoever tongue.gif

just update myO2x with cyanogenMod 7 nightly #21. sadly my quadrant went down from 2269 to 2069. sad.gif

now going to flash with Official HK v10d and see the dif. smile.gif

lol.. you can get 42xx score on stock ROM at Quadrant.
But can the score give you good user experience ? I think not.
If really needed, devs can tweak the things inside cm7 and make it score higher in Quadrant, BUT THIS IS NEVER NEEDED, REAL-LIFE PERFORMANCE PROVES EVERYTHING (CM7 STILL A BIT UNSTABLE THOUGH, HAHA)

By the way, big changes coming

being 2 full days with HK V10D rom,so far ok.no hang n reboot and still smooth compare to Malaysia V10B.

Added on May 18, 2011, 2:34 pm
by the way,saw the Korea rom V10S is getting a huge change and tweak for O2X.don't know is compatible with our O2X or not ( Korea spec a bit diff with ours )

I think SU660 share the same hardware with O2X, same goes G2X, so official roms for korean version should hit both O2X and G2X with different firmware version.  smile.gif

agree with u.but if u just base on Malaysia Rom,then i think this phone is not rock as he should be.

Verdict : gr8 phone, for the price, it wins hand down over others  rclxms.gif
Next : learn how to upgrade, flash, rom or whatever they called it. No idea how, but got to find ways... icon_question.gif

That's the reason we need to transfer the apps to external sd card with apps2sd.
