Hi all, I'm a blackberry 9700 OS 6 user and considering to change to defy.

1) how to copy current contact list out and store in the phone?

2) will upgrade to 2.2 / 2.3 will void my warranty?

finally i made my purchase of defy. RM1050 AP set.

i managed to transfer about 90% of my contact to the new phone.. seems some or few contact when missing after changing phone (but i had sold off the old phone)

I have few question still about the defy that wish any sifu that can share information with me

1) i wish to used the phone as modem.. but some how is not successful.

2) how long is the battery last on the phone? i have it full charge sat 6am.. 1030am seems about 30% gone...

3) what are the must have software to load for the phone, so far i only have angry birds

4) still no official update for 2.2...

3. software.. personal choice.. lor.. for me ebuddy is a must.. (YM,Fb,gtalk,msn), GPS.. papago x5, camera360®, MoboPlayer®, QuickPic®, Picsin®, Photowonder®,TubeMate®,Dolphin HD®, TuneIN®, Tape-a-Talk®, ES File Explorer®, MyQuran®, Dua Azkar®, Ultimath®, BrainwaveTuner®
and some more.. but thats above is a must  biggrin.gif

Use as modem like tethering using USB cable? Try PDAnet. If not, can use the built-in 3G wifi app.  thumbup.gif

thanks bro... already solved the problem

Welcome bro  biggrin.gif  Name added to owner list

My answer to your question as below  laugh.gif

1. Wifi Hospot always work, but if u mean using USB cable then need something like "PDAnet".

2. Hm.. this really depend on personal usage, but new phone new battery performance will increase after 1~2 week of usage. Of cause upgrade to froyo 2.2, GingerBread 2.3 and some tweak will increase the battery power also.

3. For me .. hmm.gif  "must have software" is titanium backup, papago x5, 3D gallery, Quickoffice, WhatsApp, AdFree, Talking Hippo and more more more ...  laugh.gif

4. Got official update but not here .. and most of us here doesn't care much coz some of us tasted GingerBread jor  thumbup.gif
*
thanks bro..

1) Solved d...
2) Intersted to find out more.. can't wait for official 2.2
3) i have papago x5 pre install. will it be using more battery ?
4) tell me more about 3.0 or 3.1... defy can support?

Gingerbread is 2.3, not 3.0 or 3.1, and it's already out there with CM7. you can wait for official 2.2, but frankly speaking, unless you are uneasy with all the techno stuffs, learn how to flash and install new ROMS.

*
i heard that will spoiled the warranty, besides.. i am really not a techno savvy person.. unless i have a sifu beside me then i dare to try..

Re: DEFY: Upgrade/Update News for Non-U.S. Models

There's an upgrade available for the DEFY via the MSU (Motorola Software Update) service.
This update is not available OTA (over the air), so you can't download it directly on your phone.

The regions/providers are:

Singapore:
Retail

France:
Orange, SFR, Retail

The MSU installation package is available at this URL: http://www.motorola.com/update

The release notes are available here:
https://rsddownload.motorola.com/download/B...MB525.Retail.FR. pdf
https://rsddownload.motorola.com/download/B...MB525.Orange.FR. pdf
https://rsddownload.motorola.com/download/B....MB525VF.FR.pdf

More providers/regions will follow. Please be patient.

Cool, seems like you are super newbie.  rclxms.gif  Root means jailbreak. Have full privilege on your phone. Android without root is LJ. I also SG set leh..Do your phone reboot often and force closed???
*
LOL... i just got the defy 2 weeks back... all i did was upgraded to 2.2 (official version)

so far the phone seems working fine.. kind of happy with some of the apps but till getting used to full touch screen (from BB Bold2). Only issue i find is the battery power not too lasting and also the screen lock problem. At many times i need to slide many times in-order to unlock the phone. And sometimes it lock itself.

still seeing how to make full used of the phone.
