I am gonna update to Froyo tonight. Wish me luck! It's as easy as downloading from the official site and just follow the onscreen instructions right? Anything I need to do just in case? Backup etc?

Added on July 8, 2011, 12:49 pmHey great people of Defy World.

I just updated my 2.1 Eclair to the Froyo 2.2 via the Motorola Website for software updates.

I can't help but noticed my ROM is used up to the point of having 21 MB out of 340 MB. Is this normal. Should I just accept this as the way of life?

Or does this have anything to do with aps installed? Any ways I can save the space some more?

Cheers.

System ROM: 340 MB (21.0 MB Free)
Internal : 1.22 GB (1.13 GB Free)
SD Card : 1.96 GB (458 MB Free)

QUOTE(blackwhitechipsKL @ Jul 8 2011, 04:18 PM)
i dunno why you got 21MB...i have about 170MB under system ROM.

anyway, first thing when you get a smartphone is, get a minimum 8GB or 16GB microSD. 2GB is a total waste of time, and you will end up changing it anyway.

and for those still in eclair...i mean...really?

Added on July 8, 2011, 4:19 pmcurrently, Gingerbread is only available with custom ROMs, with MIUI and CM7 being most popular, but there are stock GB ROMs as well, although i seriously recommend using either of the 2.
*
LoL! Yeah I really need to get me some new bigger memory cards soon. And for tha ROM of mine.. I don't know maybe if I do a factory reset.

By the way after doing a factory reset now, I should still be at FROYO right? not back to ECLAIR?

not sure la..wasnt on stock froyo. i'm guessing a lot of MOTOBLUR crap. i was on a non-BLUR froyo ROM. never a fan of BLUR stuffs. move to MIUI...you'll love it! or CM7 if you want the pure Android speed and flexibility

Totally gonna check it out very soon! Thanks smile.gif

HELP!

Guys. Referring to the front page for: CM7 2.3 Custom ROM - Beta 6 NOW! 15thMay2011

I downloaded all the files except for Google Apps 2.3.4(market, gtalk, etc.) because the link is dead. Anyhow I tried to find the file from the internet based on the keyword. I did managed to get some files. I tried a few after that with no success to instal it after booting.

Anyone has the file?

Cheers.

Added on July 10, 2011, 2:06 am..Oh no and now My wifi keeps logging off... arrrgh! What did I do wrong.

..and I managed to get some Google Apps installed. Wifi is OK now but I can't seem to establish a Google account to my Google account and where is the Android market App?

Oh this is frustrating sad.gif

OK let me get this correct. I currently already installed a stock SEA Froyo ROM. So no need to instal the Nordic ones?

All I need to do now is to reboot into 2nd Init Recovery Installer, Select "wipe cache partition" then "wipe data/factory reset", Select "install zip from sdcard", "choose zip from sdcard", then select "MIUI.us_umts_jordan_1.7.8_Eng_Deo_ZipA_Signed.zip" ?

then reboot?

OMG!

After successfullyinstalling from SD & everything and reboot the Motorola Sign is just there. Nothing is happening. Did I screwed up my new phone???
