I ordered on the 7th sept. Checked again already shipped out from singapore. Should arrive these few days but my friend already left malaysia this morning. Lucky got another one coming in October.

Oh, too bad you're not in MY. If i was in your shoes, ill be extremely impatient, haha.

Btw, only today they charged my card, public bank called me up to confirm the payment. Kinda funny, they never called me before to confirm an online purchase. Is that normal?

HP DM1-4010 (RM1299) includes the external dvdrw and a free hp backpack.

Added on September 22, 2011, 4:37 pmGentlemen (and ladies)... I don't know whether I'm just hallucinating, or aliens played around with my firefox cache, but I can no longer find the DM1-4000au (RM1,099) on the HP website. The only options for DM1 are the DM1-4010 (RM1,299) and the DM1-3206 (RM1,499 - orevious generation DM1 but with home premium 64), Also, I could have sworn that when I looked at the site yesterday, the DM1-4010 came with the external DVDRW plus an HP bagpack. Today, the DVDRW is no longer included in the package.

Like I said, I don't know if i have been hallucinating all this time, but i hate to say it... if you snoozed, you lost. Strangely enough, i had a feeling this was going to happen. The RM1,099 deal was too good to be true... for long. blink.gif

Yeah, looks like that particular package with windows 7 starter is not being offered anymore. That's the one i ordered, hopefully it got through.

it should be earlier, may be Tuesday?
Just received it, my planned delivery date was 29th Sep.

by the way, how to upgrade the RAM? Thanks.
edit: found an video, this hp dm1-4000au is almost exactly like as seen as Youtube, except the texture finish on the cover;

Any pic of your laptop cover? I thought the texture will be same for all the new dm1. Only the old dm1 has glossy look.

Try removing the bloatware. Didnt they provide a CD with all the drivers in it?

To access the RAM slots, watch this video(Thanks to mitodna for the find)

The only thing is, since your dm1 still has 1 year warranty, when you add this, max you will get is only 3 years, not 4 years.

I'll get a care pack the moment i get my dm1, hehe.

Hmm, not sure what happens if you add at the end of 1 year warranty. Well, you can sms the seller, he replies very quickly.

Got mine yesterday. Removed Windows Starter and installed Ultimate. Kinda sluggish even without any bloatware. I guess a memory upgrade is a must. Can i add a 4GB DDR3 ram to my current 2GB?

Btw, mine came with no pattern at all unlike the one shown on Engadget website. I guess our region got the plain black version with hard plastic cover on it.

yes, you can upgrade to 4GB, though the unit supports 8GB via 2x 4GB max.

dm1-4000au is the plain black with soft touch (rubbery feel)
*
Ic, thx thx. Actually i would like the make it total 6gb ram. Meaning the ori 1x2gb and add another 1x4gb.

Btw, does e450 always feel sluggish like this? I notice even my sister's lenovo which comes with e350 is kinda slow. I thought it was a lenovo thing, haha.

Here's a pic. It's hard plastic, no rubbery touch to it at all. What about those who ordered the one with win7 pro?

Actually, one of the reasons i went with dm1 was coz of the pattern on the front and back cover but instead got plain black, haha. Well, it's ok, still a nice laptop, just needs more ram.

dm1-4000au properly has the (best) built-in laptop speaker I had, I don't know if it is the beatsaudio is doing the magic or just beatsaudio sticker placebo
*
Yeah true, the audio system is awesome. It's almost as good as Harmon Kardon speakers on my dell studio.
