anybody knows where i can get quality bookshelf speakers in KL? i know places like amcorp selling speakers, but those look like very high end speakers. i don't have a fixed budget yet because i want to audition what i can find locally. i strictly want bookshelf speakers because i'm strictly using it for my pc. no subwoofer if it's possible. no place to put it. passive or active both ok.

and later when i do have a choice, should i import it or buy locally? i know local can get better warranty and all, but usually, quality stuff lasts more than their warranties, thus importing would be fine to cut cost(maybe)

thanks for the info

you can consider speakers like KEF X300A wireless or Dynaudio Xeo 4

both allow wireless, USB and bluetooth connection
smallish monsters
no need additional amplifiers, sounds great and accepts all sorts of connectivity

reduced need for DAC, cables and amps.

i don't need any wireless because that only adds unnecessary cost(for me).
anything around $200 to $300? should have put a price range in the beginning lol sweat.gif

my only exposure at this price range last time was altec lansing ACS45.1 and 48.1.....and that was 15years ago.
my rm200 to rm300 system was in the early 90s......

i have gone beyond that level of sound system and just never look back at this range....

and since i'm not hunting anything at this range.....i don't do any research on it.

so if you found well regarded stuffs at that price range and something u like hearing....then buy it....

sorry if i offended you. dunno what happened to me.
but as i said, you guys are to high end already. should have made a separate thread. icon_rolleyes.gif

dont worry, i guess mushy has no intention of offend or the other way round...
audio engine a5 is fine, but my personal fav small system is krk rokit 5 powered monitor

nah, i was the one writing that offending reply and he has the right to be pissed though
i've heard some nice things about krk, but my friend said it's kinda overpriced. and also not that "studio" like

No, dun misunderstand us. This thread is for everything connected to audiophile. No such thing as high end or low end but rather what you like.

well true, but can't do anything if nobody has the info on what to recommend though

none taken.....

the fact is i don't have any info about that range.....so i'm not able to comment....maybe i was too direct.....as you can see my other replies to other forumers....direct and straight to the point

its not about being high-end or low-end......you see us high end.....but i see others having higher end stuffs than Gi Jie and myself (although Gi Jie is way up up than me....cepat hide first).....

if you asked me about altec lansing those days....they really pack some mean sound system at that range
but obviously it was a premium for me back in the 90s

audiophile is a long journey. its not just about sound.....its about reproducing music

i started with a pair of computer speakers priced at rm30 from imbi.....there wasn't any reviews or forums to begin with
technology those days were limited and things were more expensive (coz student boh $$$$)

maybe i should take some time to go look at budget speakers and study them
anyway......like i said....audiophile and hifi is a long journey
i'm still learning to listen after 15years and still learning how to tune systems

like my signature.....Life's Too Short For Boring HiFi......one day.....you will actually itchy backside and upgrade.....

i still feel bad about it though.
anyway, let's try to put the past behind us.
well, as they say, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
i need to know the correct first step lol
