Is anyone using Opera Prima [edited], deep base and good penetrating soundstage ? I am so tempted to trade in my KEF cresta 10 for that, instead of adding on more woofer and mid speaker to it.

Aiyo why is there no Opera Prima loadspeaker users. I really loss now ..

should I let go my KEF cresta 10, and then go for Aegis... I want to play all kinds of music. right now with my soundstage 1.5 to cresta, I am happy with classical, jazz, vocal. I hope later when my Zero DAC comes in, I would like to upgrade my speaker, 1 step higher.

manage to find the review for bronze BR2

http://sites.thestar.com.my/audio/story.as...iofile/22bronze

by the way, how is this BR2 compared, with say Mission M71, Aegis, cresta 10. all about RM 1k - RM 1.4k. the line should be

1. bass, does it know its limit? can it punch with weight and dedication and yet control
2. treble. is it done with over exuberant and color, over detail.
3. vocal. natural, illusion, clear, imaginery or real.

How about KEF iQ3 or MA Bronze BR2?
*
wonder what is the new price for MA BR2. How about RM 1,400 for a pair of used demo unit? Normally speakers have no problem right.

Basically to sum up, I notice the popularity in the following with reasonable price

Monitor Audio
PSB (alpha is out of market ? cheap ?)
KEF
B&W
Paradigm

deep pocket items

ProAC
ATC
Sonus faber concerto
Opera super pavarotti

Can someone giv me the league..
I am thinking to drop by and audition the speakers, before decide. I am very tempted on the KEF IQ series. heard it is Hong Kong based now.

Just audition the Opera prima 1.5 driven with just the cheapo soundstage 1.5 tubeamp. The musicality is unending and the bass reaches where the heart beats. Janis Ian - guess you had to be there really sings and rings. I really wonder why the speaker so small can have such musicality output inc bass. so felt in love but not the price.

Looks like Tong Lee is famous for fishing the customers. I suspect what u say is correct. The bass of Opera 1.5 can not be so deep as compared to subwoofer. I could feel the sofa beats with bass. I will go and check one more time, this time I will bring my soundstage amp. Can I know how much u bought the Monitor audio Bronze ( is it BR2)? and where?

I read review that the Opera 1.5 uses double magnet. the driver is 130mm and so may be it can beat with bass.

After audition the ProAC tablet 3, and studio, I would still prefer Opera 1.5.
Another speaker I am getting crazy over

1.The Focus Audio FS-68 or FS-688 series.
2. Sonus Faber Signum
3. AAD Reference silver-1

I would prefer second hand one, given the high cost of above items

I wonder if there is any other speaker i should pay attention to and what is your comment on the above

After going thru the audition for Focus Audio FS-68SE, I found the soundstage is quite wide, especialy the mid and high are very engaging and revealing and uncolor. However the bass shop is not my area of visit. one just dont vote Focus for that, inc the FC30. The other audition is AAD Silver-1. The famous AAD 2001 (audition during the AV show in crystal crown) has got a follow up. The curve sharp of Silver-1 carry the marks of Phil Jone philosophy. Sharp and punch bass. At first I audition the ATC SCM7 and monitor audio. After switching over to AAD Silver-1, gosh, u feel like driving on highway with 20 lanes . This really make me think to save money than buying something for sale later.

so now I have narrow down to
1. Opera prima 1.5
2. AAD silver-1
3. Sonus signum

trouble is where to audition the famous signum (and for the price i can only afford 2nd hand).

Does anyone know about Opera-Consonance bookshelf speakers. It seems the Opera consonance speakers Eric 1 is quite similar to Opera speakers

Tong lee confirm this is not the same as opera.

Hi guys, im more into car audio and consider a newbie in home audio. Im gonna move into my new house soon and desire to build myself a simple home audio. Im currently using vifa speakers in car and have plans to build myself a speaker stand and transfer the speaker over. Say for a budget of 5000 to buy myself a cd player and amplifier, what are the choices available?

Bro, suggest u read more onto the hifi thread before u jump the gun. u can spend RM 5000 for something which u can get for RM 3000.

Brother,

do consider using DAC such as ZERO for your HIFI instead of Marantz, which is expensive. with the DAC u can swap opamp to suit your taste, the best things is these DAC is no less superior.

as for your amp, I think your audiolab still rank high in the hifi list.

I wonder who has the power amplifier like Krell / Audio Research. How would such Krell amp compare to Cambridge audio, audiolab or other integrated amp. A class above ?

KRELL is like Honda cars while Cambridge Audio is like Honda EX-5 (much less) ..... in terms of pricing! hehehe  smile.gif

I still have my Cambridge Audio interconnect bought from Richer Sound.

I have been looking for power amp. the target i have found are basically vintage power amp, second hand good unit.

i have found

1. rotel RB 1070
2. Exposure 2010 power amp
3. musical fidelity A300
4. krell KSA
5. Krell KST
6. Naim NAP200

My speaker is B&W 602S3. I have like the power amp to drive a Harbeth/ATC later. what do you think of the above power amp.

It appears, instead of KST (which is class AB), might as well get KSA since KSA uses newer tech and components, also newer...
