Diamond is budget system, cant really match with Naim or Rega. You need to upgrade the speaker like Epos, Proac or Sonus Faber then you will be blown away. Diamonds limits your system. If you wana keep the diamond, try electronics from CA, Marantz or Nad.

QUOTE(bashir3 @ Feb 16 2009, 10:07 AM) Sorry but I disagree. Yes Diamond 9.1 is a budget speaker but I once had a Cambridge Audio P500 power amp driving these speakers and using my reciever as the preamp. I was totally blown away by the sound it produced. The only problem was that it only sounded great around 2am till 6am in the morning. So then I decided to get the NAD C372 due to its high power reserve but that sounded bad 24x7. So now I'm looking for a higher end intergrated amp to make these babies sing again but so far have been dissapointed. P/S: If anyone has the Cambridge Audio P500 + A500, please let me know if you want to sell it. Do you know why your system sounded best from 2am till 6am? I strongly believe it is due to electricity consumption. Starting midnight (on weekdays I would say) mostly people are on bed and this is the time when electricity is least consumed around your neighborhood. Less electricity consumption means less electricity fluctuation, hence the improvement you found on your system. Maybe you could try experimenting some power conditioner or power cables. Well, maybe you knew this and sorry if I am like explaining ABC to you. But again, using 10k electronics to drive 9.1s will limit your electronics. Your 10k electronics will need better judgment. I am not against Wharfy as myself is a proud owner of 9.1s Cheers.

QUOTE(bashir3 @ Feb 17 2009, 08:13 AM) Yup I have seen the promotion and will be going there soon. Need to check out how much a Cremona Auditor M costs. I have tried a power conditioner and it makes the sound better during the day but makes it worse then it was during the night. Somehow I feel it limits the current flowing from the mains into the amp. The reason I wanted a good amp so that it could deal with these power fluctuations since it would have a better power supply using better components and transformer. Guess I was hoping for too much!!! Nah you are not hoping too much, the journey of finding the suitable sound is rather exhausting. But too bad I am into Home Cinema, can't really help here. Maybe you ought to start a thread for this, there are many sifus out there willing to help. Good luck mate

QUOTE(waters @ Mar 7 2009, 06:06 PM) Guys, need some advice. I got a DENON PMA 700 amp to replace my old NAD that went bust awhile ago. Now looking for a pair of speakers to match the DENON. Right now, I'm using my trusty Wharfedale Diamond 8.1s but looking to upgrade. Price should be within the 1.5 - 1.6K. Can probably stretch it a bit, but not by much. I've auditioned the AE Neo 1 and the Quad11L. Anything else within that range that would be good partner to the DENON? Monitor Audio BR2, Epos M5, used Epos M12.2. Good choice for the Quad 11
