Anyone ever heard PSB Alpha LR1? Thinking of using this for starting in hifi journey.

need advice for an entry level set, is there any bookshelf speaker that has sufficient bass for some pop/rock and r&b song?or need to add subwoofer? i listen to all type of music. budget around 2-3k.
personally i have auditioned Triangle bookshelf speaker, like the sound very much but the speaker almost 4k.

I am a total newbie in this area, please do provide me some insight on this..

I have an extra room, more than 30 square meter, and decide to make it a room for music enjoyment, home theater and also some 'Karaoke'.

To achieve all these, I went to check out some Karaoke system. Found the speakers (BMB) to be unsatisfactory (too boomy in the small room, no gap between wall and speaker like any ordinary Karaoke room. Mid range which is important for human voice, is also not very good).

So I asked if I could use their Karaoke system on some other good speakers, the seller then told me that it would not be ideal to use high-end speaker for Karaoke use as Karaoke requires louder sound and most speaker would not be able to withstand the workload and stress.

Before this, I got to know about MartinLogan's ESL series electrostatic speakers, which are able to convey the air and speed of movie and most importantly, music. However, as those family members also want to use those speakers for Karaoke, I wonder if those speakers could withstand the extra load as told by the Karaoke seller.

So the load on mids is the biggest problem    But sometimes I wonder if those speakers can handle movies (especially explosions), why can't they handle mids... sorry I don't know much about this...

The karaoke server only has HDMI or RCA (Red and White and Yellow) output. 

Is 5.1 surround sound or the powerful 3.1 suitable for Karaoke? It is one of the biggest purpose also...

I haven't bought anything so far. I just went to a karaoke reseller and auditioned those 'BMB' speakers. The karaoke system itself is quite simple, utilizing a touch screen, about 60000 KTV songs inside and capable of playing HD movies when connected to Hard disk and thumbdrive.

Ideally I wish to get an all in one system. The music source itself may not be hi-res (such as 192/24bit or DSD), it is quite ok. It will be best if I can just add speaker amp (or also preamp) and a pair of speakers to the setup.

I really don't wish to buy those BMB ones. But since you kindly pointed out that it is not a possible compromise and no normal speaker could withstand the load of mids, i think mostly I will settle on either movie and music or Karaoke alone..

Or did I missed out that the 5.1 and 3.1 proper system can do all 3 tasks easily?

BTW, should I decide to see what your 3.1 and 5.1 system, is there any chance I can hear it in JB? And most ultimately, have it delivered to the doorstep with setup should I decide to buy?

Yep, I ordered the Krells from Norman Audio but Ivan Cheng seems disinterested to sell them to me. I first contacted him more than three weeks ago and till today (and after I have requested the invoice from him time and time again) I have yet to get it from him. Perhaps he deems a MYR30,000 sale not quite up to his standard. Been extremely patient but enough is enough. How hard is it to issue an invoice? I didn't even asked him about the exact price as I was more than willing to pay whatever he asked for but the excuses and alibis for the delays are rather unacceptable. I have a MYR50,000 budget but if I can't get what I want i.e. the Krells, I might just as well keep my Marantz system.

Yep. He said he had it in his warehouse. He assured me that.
I had always wanted a Krell but couldn't afford it until recently.
I once had a Mark Levinson No,7 when I was in Australia but still fancied the Krells.

I enquired from Hiway Laser a week ago. Guess what? Still no response.

Oops! Just found out that the Nordost cables cost RM40,000. The Vahalla 2 costs RM60,000 for a 3m pair. CRAZY!!!

Which model ler? AND most importantly...the price cos these Magico speakers cost a bomb.
