QUOTE(EightPhantomz @ Sep 10 2012, 10:24 AM) Any recommended speaker for 1K and below? Just bought a LED 3D TV few days ago and am thinking of getting a small but decent speaker system to compliment it. Not needing big ass system though as my condo is just small. Thanks in advance! Do you have an amp?

Then you need one. If your tv has audio out, you will need to connect to your amp. Alternatively, you can connect your source audio to the amp. eg., Astro audio to amp, which will be connected to the speakers.

If you are going for stereo int amp, best is to get a DAC.
For your RM3K budget, can get a decent amp and spkrs.

QUOTE(pillage2001 @ Apr 5 2013, 12:10 AM) was told to come here with my q so.....here goes. This is prolly asked alot and I have been reading around but still can't come up with a definitive choice. My budget is about 2.5 to 3k for an amp. I will mostly use it for movies and music. Should be about 50/50 distribution among the two........ Now I have auditioned a set of Onkyo 414 with Jamo 606 ( i think it's 606 ) but it doesn't sound any good at all. The bass was very bad till the point the speakers were crackling..like farting.......I am not sure if it's because the speakers were already abused which cause it to sound like this or it's the amps inability to drive it but I was not impressed. Long story short...the Onkyo 616 seems like the choice to go but alot are saying that if I want sound quality, I should look at marantz or denon.......then again there's yamaha......the 673 caught my eye but why is the output per channel only at 90W??? What do you guys recommend? I understand that Onkyo is all about power but I am very picky with sound....I don't want all power with muffed out sounds......so.........recommendation guys?? Since music is also quite a priority, the Marantz av receiver is an obvious choice for you.

QUOTE(pillage2001 @ Apr 15 2013, 01:43 AM) Thanks I was about to lock on that until I saw the LX56....that is a beast!! What about speakers?? KEF?? B&W?? Jamo?? For your requirement, try KEF, B&W and Monitor Audio. You can visit Hi-Way Laser in SS2. Look for Kenny or Chuen. Tell them that I recommend you. Oh yes, they have Pioneer too.

QUOTE(pillage2001 @ Apr 16 2013, 01:30 AM) They know you as htkaki?? Sounds good. I'm liking the KEF Q500 with Lx56.... Cable matters?? cause I am about to buy some cables from the US Kenny knows. Else, you mention Max Cable is a hot debate that refuse to die down. IMHO, it makes a difference in your case. But, expensive cable does not equate to better sound quality as matching is equally important.

QUOTE(chanhin @ Jul 31 2013, 01:16 PM) Any Malaysia address that we can actually hear the performance of the speakers. Personally I do not care about brands and the speakers' origin (UK, US etc). I just want a decent sound like those from Focal Electra + acceptable looks. The Roger and ATC looks are terrible.... Bro, click on the website also lazy? All the information that you need is in there. Eg, contact, location map, etc

You need to audition around to hear which you like most.
The integrated amp will be ideal in your case. AVR be it higher end model, normally sound thin and rather flat for music. A RM2K int amp can put shame on a RM9K avr when it comes to music. Heck, the primary objective for avr is to produce surr sound.
You may check out Marantz, NAD, Cambridge Audio, etc.

QUOTE(hushymushy @ May 23 2014, 10:56 AM) bro.....its hard to tell bcoz it depends on the type of speaker you drive LX57 is RM5999 retail price. If you ask me about audio....these amps are not meant for real audio....they are made for home theatre LX87 is top of the range from pioneer running around 8999 if i'm not mistaken Couldn't agree more. For stereo, these avrs are only mediocre. The Marantz AVR sounds better than many other avr though. If you put a RM6k AVR against a RM2.5k int amp, my money on the int amp when it comes to music. Hm, agree? This post has been edited by htkaki: May 23 2014, 08:11 PM

QUOTE(GI Jie @ May 29 2014, 12:20 AM) Yep. He said he had it in his warehouse. He assured me that. I had always wanted a Krell but couldn't afford it until recently. I once had a Mark Levinson No,7 when I was in Australia but still fancied the Krells. I enquired from Hiway Laser a week ago. Guess what? Still no response. What is it with these hifi vendors anyway? You should have contacted Ultra Linear in Singapore. Donald's staff will be able to assist you. They have been the Krell distributor for decades. As for Malaysia, Hi-Way is getting from Norman. If Norman is not responding, Hi-Way will be stuck too. We have the older Krell and KSA-200. Used to have a number of it. Personal collections. Sold off a number of it. I can let you have a listen just to withstand your itch while waiting for Donald to reply.
