Desa, Legend and most probably A&L. PSW10 is a decent sub. But, I would rather buy Mordaunt Short 309i at a fraction more.

Sld be in the region of RM1.5-1.6k. I like its pace and power. It has the ample power to push its driver, which PSW10 is a bit lacking here. I think you can audition both at Desa.

QUOTE(Jaroque @ Jun 21 2008, 10:51 AM) GUys..i've been seeing Sharp Theater Racks and Panasonic Theater Racks...are these good compared to Home Theaters??? No, it will not 'topple' the dedicated HTS. replies would be appreciated First, it does not have enough wattage, i.e. puny amp. 2nd - this is not a really 5.1 system. So, surr steering would very much dependent on the room layout. 3rd - No dedicated active sub. One of the major oomph factor in HTS. IMHO, the only thing that these racks got the upper hand is the tidiness of the system., which would score very high point in WAF. But, I would not sacrifice AQ for this |

QUOTE(clivengu @ Jul 15 2008, 07:55 PM) Im getting a new sony bravia 46" X series... But now wondering what hifi system to match with it.. Seriously, if you are getting such a premium lcd tv, go for separate HT system (not HTiB). Karaoke system starts from RM1K+ to few K. IMHO, BMB is overrated. Try to allocate RM6-7K for the bgt entry setup. If you can afford more, then it would be better. I see Sony have lots of Hifi theater system.. but not sure how each of them performs... I prefer Sleek design. of course with good sounds. 1 thing i like to point out is my mum loves karaoke.. I notice that nowadays surround theather system cant support or not as good as for Karaoke.. any suggestion? |

QUOTE(clivengu @ Jul 16 2008, 01:22 AM) Seriously, U mean for a good karaoke system u need to allocate 6-7 k No, I meant HT system. The important thing in Karaoke system is the mixer with those keys to adjust. RM1K+ would suffice.I dont understand why is the surround theather system cannot be use for karaoke..? Can I just add an amplifier (donno wat it called...those adjusthing microphone volume+ echo those system) to the theather system and wooalla can play?? |

Yes, RX-V663 is an audio video surround receiver and not integrated stereo amplifier.

RM6K is inclusive of AV receivers, speakers and 1 sub?
Best option is to go for Yammy RX-V663, Get a SW150. These will set you back by about RM3,100. Then, with bal of RM2,900, can buy either PSB or Wharfy Diamond speakers. |

It's a decent HTiB. However, I would rather top up a bit to buy HT-SF2300, which could accepts LPCM via HDMI. This is good considering if you are into BD.
You get to enjoy lossless audio. Having said that, please do not crank it at high vol as distortion will sets in. |

Just to add on, always do a thorough check on used item especially amplifier and cd player before parting your money with it.

Personal use also incurs taxes. It is 15% import duty and 10% sales tax.
Don't try to fool them as they are not as 'naive' as they used to be. Just be nice and normally they will let you know about your the 'duty' that need to be paid. US avr needs to use a step down power converter if it is being used here. If not, you will fry it instantly when you plug it in. |

QUOTE(xsi @ Nov 29 2010, 01:29 PM) planning to get a new/used front speaker. Since you are using AV amp, you need to check whether it could drive 4ohm spkrs or not since there are many that can't. This way, you will not end up buying spkrs that your amp can't drive. to match with my 'old' harman kardon AV amp... priority music....HT secondary... budget 1-1.5k.. pls recommend. Thanks. + is it recommended to buy used speakers..? tq.. You need to check the condition of used spkrs. Better to audition before parting money with it. |

QUOTE(tunertoobe @ Dec 5 2010, 10:52 PM) Ummm, this question might sound a little silly....but I just have to ask. Martin Logan. There is a shop in Plaza Damas; Tech AV S/B. Prepare 5 figures for a decent one. Also, it needs very good care too due to to our climate condition.Where can I find dealers of electrostatic speakers, in Malaysia? What sort of price will I expect to see? Not buying one, of course, I know they're expensive. I just want to know how much and where, so I can have a look, and possibly audition one some day. QUOTE Hi all, i extremely interest on playing Hi-Fi but totally new on this world, so please recommend me full set of stereo system for an entry level (CD player, Stereo Amp, and 2.0 Bookshelf speaker) and my budget will around RM2500, thanks~ What sort of brands that you have in mind? |

Since it is leaning towards music, I suggest you go for Marantz av receiver which is quite a performer when it comes to stereo. Onkyo, Yamaha, Pioneer and even Denon av receiver do not make the cut in stereo when pit against Marantz.
It will be good if you have the layout so that we know how to place the speakers and whether 7.1 is ideal or not. PM me if you need any assistance |

QUOTE(bLa @ Jan 11 2011, 09:10 AM) Hey guys, That's a very nice budget to start with I am looking to get a home stereo for my av room but i do not have much expertise in this area. My focus is on sound quality and the overall look of the system. It must have floor standing speakers with a wood casing. Prefer the speakers to have a more antique look. Willing to spend up to RM30k. Some recommendations are appreciated and thank you in advance. |
