QUOTE(Sentinel92 @ May 26 2015, 11:49 AM) See the specs maaaah. When you guys said Evidence kecik I was like wow, okay, maybe Q7 or Arrakis then only big enough for this taikor..HAHAHAHA. Sometimes hyper thick speaker cables also no point lmao. See how lah. Maybe I crash your listening test as well. Aiyah...last time my mother says study hard, I never listen but go after skirts hard mah, so always ponteng English class lah, so cannot read specs. Now koyak oredy lor... Alamak! Where got people look at specs one ler? Look at picture see nice or not first, then go testing sikit, if like then ask for the price, then later save for one century then got enuf to buy lah. 200K ler....GST alone also 12K (enuf to eat wanton mee everyday for almost 5 years!!!) So big speakers maybe cannot buy lah cos my missus equates size with price. If she found out it cost 200K+, then surely die straight straight oredy. I think it suits you. www.whatsbestforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=11788&d=1379713582 But lol, I always see specs and price first lol. So even if look nice, if it's 6 Ft tall, 100KG and 200K, I'll say bye byeeeee. Hahahhaa. Errr...just how much did you tell your missus it cost?

QUOTE(hushymushy @ May 27 2015, 12:29 PM) Gi Jie.....you need to pacify the wife first before buying....hahahahaha yeah the dynas are huge and not the kicik meow speakers...... need alot of juice to power them man.... How can anyone in the world be capable of pacifying their missus in the first place when buying stereo equipment ler? Mission Impossible. Ya, I know need a lot of juice to power them but I think the Passlabs monoblocks will be sufficient. 150W of pure Class A juice per channel. BUT..... I have been thinking twice about getting the Passlabs cos a lot of other good equipment in the market these days: 1) Dan D'Agostino Momentum 2) MBL Reference 9008A 3) Theta Digital Prometheus Less bulky also.... 4) Passlabs XS150 This post has been edited by GI Jie: May 27 2015, 11:52 PM

QUOTE(hushymushy @ May 27 2015, 01:47 PM) heard good reviews on the MBL although i haven't got the chance to hear it in person i have fond memories of previous MBL amps and the remind me how refined and precise one amp can make.... very clean and transparent amp....not sure if the sound character has changed since then. . That's what I am scared of when dealing with German amps. Too transparent. Never mind. I am going to HK on Monday and will test it there. Found their authorized dealer there in Mongkok - exactly where I will be staying this time (Langham Place). No authorised dealers here in Bolehland though....

Hello everybody...just came home last nite. Ya, visited the shop in Mongkok. Hell, in fact the whole building was full of imported high end stuff. No pictures cos they won't allow me to take them. Auditioned the MBL but not 9008A or the 9011 cos not in stock but the 7008A integrated amp coupled to the strangest looking loudspeakers (116F) & AR CD6. Very transparent but too clinical for me. Zero life. Well, played my CD there and it sounded different. Not the sound I was looking for but the bass rattled the glass display cabinets when he turned the volume up. Cost of the 9011 is HKD140,000. Transaction in HK only. You do your own shipping. 2 months to order. Walauwei....

QUOTE(widget @ Jun 8 2015, 01:22 PM) I think the sound from some German high-end, be it MBL, Burmester, is an acquired taste. I'm also not fond of what you said as very transparent but too clinical sounding. Their aesthetic can also be a bit over-the-top, but I do like the design of T+A stuff. Ya, I think so too...acquired taste indeed but so far not to my tastebuds (yet/perhaps). Ah well, it was actually fun seeing the sales lugging that monster up and down the room. Actually took more than 20 minutes to set it up and another 10 minutes to warm the bugger up.

QUOTE(hushymushy @ Jun 8 2015, 01:32 PM) strangely they pair with AR CD6 as that might not be a good match.... nevertheless.....the MBL sound signature is very strong and needs proper matching good experience though to listen to those Germans..... its not easy to audition in MY.... @GI Jie , you may have acquired taste for Passlabs...hehehehehehe Actually and seriously no as I am genuinely considering the Momentum monoblocks by Dan D'Agostino paired to SF Aida. The Passlabs are just too massive.

QUOTE(hushymushy @ Jun 8 2015, 07:41 PM) Topet...Aida's come with premium request for top notch amps...hehehehe GI Jie ...i won't want another system with ARC.... needs to be something different needs to be budget with high end sound output unless ARC VTi60 comes at a good price...which i doubt so even sonerin Musical Paradise oredi 8k++ and then plus speakers and cables will be sub 10k+++ too expensive for study room Bro, get a used Marantz lah...not bad at all, in fact actually quite good. Hook it up to a reasonable pair of speakers and you will be pleasantly surprised. That is why my daughter is inheriting my Marantz setup hooked to a pair of Dynaudio speakers & my reliable BMB sub. Much better than the crappy Bose Wave SoundTouch which I regret buying for her. That will be demoted to the kitchen (hahaha).

QUOTE(Topet @ Jun 8 2015, 08:19 PM) Great amps with great speakers...never heard how aida's sound. Just her little sister venere at amcorp mall. Sound was great until i saw the price...i'll stay with paradigm for a time being.. Whoever buy Aida i beg you olease let me listen to it 1 song only. Illinois Jacquet Oh no....another jazzhead I prefer Coltrane myself plus the Big Band sound SF Venere is more suitable for home theater systems which is why hushymushy recommended Grand Piano Me, I prefer Stradivari over Grand Piano. Auditioned that during my trip to HK last year. Auditioned Aida there too but never got to hear Lilium. Anybody auditioned Elipsa yet???
