Hi guys another newbie/wannabes here trying to setting up a home theater system with his tiny 3k budget.

Made an enquiry on Onkyo TX-SR606 at Desa Home Kepong today but been told they returned all their stocks to the factory due to problems with the model.

Am looking for budget yet great all in one home theater speakers system like Polk Audio RM6750 but found no luck so far.

Any sort of advices and recommendations will be highly appreciated!

RM6K is inclusive of AV receivers, speakers and 1 sub?

Best option is to go for Yammy RX-V663, Get a SW150. These will set you back by about RM3,100. Then, with bal of RM2,900, can buy either PSB or Wharfy Diamond speakers.

Or get the Mission M33i with MH3 center & surround for RM2200 with some spare cash for cable.

May I know that a good cdp intergreted with good DAC (say, Marantz KI series) better or a normal cdp (say, Marantz CD5002) with a decent DAC (say, computer external DAC, such as Zero, etc) better?

Went to CMY Audio & Visual Sunway Pyramid yesterday and the sales person recommended me the combination of Onkyo TX-SR606 at RM2.9k and Boston MS-4000S Home Theater 5.1 Speakers System at RM 999.

Would like to find out from all the taiko/experts here the average price of Onkyo TX-SR606 in Malaysia?

Saw another SUBWOOFER + Audio Pro sets of wall mount speakers:

Am thinking of going for Onkyo TX-SR606 and Audio Pro, what is your advice?

hard to say.depend on the budget.i used to have marantz cd 5001 and zero dac (stand alone dac).really have good time and fun with this combo. you can change opamp from one to another until you got the right one.
then i used marantz cd 6002 with zero dac (with opamp 657).tested against marantz ki cdp with soundstage 1.5amp.speaker = epos m12.2.
for me both gave same kind of sound.almost identical.of course marantz cd 6002 with zero dac cheaper than marantz ki series.
right know i'm using rega apollo cd player which give better details and transparent.
btw everything depend on your ear(not other people ears) and your budget.

any speakers in the same range as BR2?
Which amp would pair well with it?

My plan is to get the speakers+amp first (for pc/laptop), then slowly move up the line, to a decent HT system.

They tend to lean more towards British made products. laugh.gif You should trust your own ears and go for few rounds of auditions. Sound Quality is very subjective. What sounds good to other people might not sound good to you. Happy Hunting.. thumbup.gif

yea. in this case ur soundcard is ur DAC and since you are on a budget you can buy speaker+amp 1st, connect your sound card to amp line in.

Yes.

But, normally stereo integrated amps are w/o optical input. Just connect the front out(3.5mm jack) from soundcard to line in of amp (RCA Left+Right) will do. U can get the Y type cable with 1 end 3.5mm and the other end RCA (left+right).
