Hi guys, where I can check whether the car like Vios, Altis, Camry, Cr-V, Rush, Civic... are CBU or CKD?

1. Corolla Altis Year 2007 till current model are CBU?
2. CR-V 2007-current model is CKD?
3. Camry Year 2004-2006, 2007-current model are CBU?
4. How about cars like Rush, Civic and etc.

I want to know this because salesman told me my 2008 Vios is CKD, that is why the quality is poor. He said Altis and Camry are CBU, which have better quality..

All are CKD.

may i know what is CKU and CBU i have heard but don't know what does it represent.thanks

Let me guess... (pls correct me):

1. Corolla Altis - Thai
2. CRV - Melaka
3. Camry - Thai (but UMWT says if meet monthly 1000 units then - Malaysia)
4. Civic - Melaka; Rush/Avanza - Perodua plant.

FYI:
Vios - Malaysia
Innova/Hilux/Fortuner - Indonesia

CBU:
Insight, Civic Hybrid, Civic TypeR, Prius.

CKD - Completely Knock Down [means it comes in parts and are assembled locally]

CBU - Completely Build Unit [means imported fully assembled]

Yes it is better coz of the QC (Quality Control) in other country is perhaps better than Malaysia.

Vios used to be assembled by Perodua plant but the QC was bad. Now all import from Thai.
Still it is a consider an ASEAN CKD, CBU imported from Thailand

u have a point there bro but in overall u can notice that malaysian products have QC problem ranging from all categories but not all products,but one of the worst among the fast growing countries.Thats the reason malaysian have that kind of mentality cause they have experienced the lack of QC in malaysian product.Just my opinion

Correct me if I'm wrong
- Altis 2007 onwards: CBU Thai
- Vios previous version: CKD
- Vios current 'dugong' version: CBU Thai
- CRV 2007 onwards: CBU
- Camry 04-06: CBU
- Camry 07 onwards: CBU
- Rush: CBU Indonesia
- FD Civic: CKD

Anyway TS, personally I dun see any relevant reason to select a car if its CBU or CKD especially when its already a used unit. D Vios is alrite for its price and category. But ur salesman sounds more like he's eager to clear off some stock in hand.

Because my current car is CKD, which is a lot of rattling sound and the quality not good. I think CBU is much better quality. Let say my sis Vios 2003, the interior is solid and parts are more tahan than my 08 Vios. FYI, my Vios already change engine mounting with mileage 28k km only. Luckily still under warranty that time. and the arm bush already see wear sign like had driven for more than 5 years!

CBU QC better? U must be joking! Nowadays, no such thing. If a faulty part ended up in production stage... CKD or CBU same case.

For me, I've owned / driven CBU all my life till recently... now, whichever is cheaper will be a better choice.
