On RM28 prepaid data plan, if the 500MB quickly used up say, last few days, can we pay for less than another RM28 to get full speed service again?

QUOTE(brotan @ Jun 30 2011, 05:02 PM) I'm in PJ Sec 14. Just subjectively, late evening and night seems pretty good, definitely instantaneous compared to Edge. Seldom any problem but occasionally drops and restarts to Edge while indoors. Icon rotates H to 3G to E. Worth trying! 111 |

I was in SG with my UM just before roaming change announced.
Getting wifi was my main problem. Even a subscription to Wireless@SG doesn't work because of poor coverage in HDB. I wonder if the RM28 works on roaming there? 111 PS: Of interest to some..... remember that the RM28 is prepaid. the RM40 is only available on a plan. After the 28 days finished, I am getting connected to HSDPA or Edge whenever online. Does not seem expensive. If I set phone to 2G only, then no movement online.
@Hebe87: Nobody knew of a Prepaid SIM for data. Only a dongle for netbooks, not smartphones. Normal SIMS probably charge like our Maxis. Added on July 31, 2011, 4:22 pm QUOTE(Darkmage12 @ Jul 28 2011, 01:56 AM) Yeah but is it different now with UM's no roaming charges for Singapore voice?111 This post has been edited by oneeleven: Jul 31 2011, 04:22 PM |

QUOTE(DJFoo000 @ Aug 23 2011, 05:21 PM) http://u.com.my/faqs/free-sim-pack Not subscribed, I believe you get charged 5 sen every time you turn some apps on-off. Also perhaps get charged Celcom normal GPRS rate, if it switches to roaming. If you often use small amounts it may add up to far less than 500 MB when you use up credit. This is what it seemed to me from memory but maybe someone can clarify.No.3 says within 5 working days. Your ordered it 4 days ago, which is Friday? Should receive by Thursday lerrr. Anyone know what is the fair usage policy if I do not subscribe the unlimited internet plan? The link here doesn't specify: http://www.u.com.my/policies-terms-and-con...ir-usage-policy If there's no limit, then it's cheaper not to subscribe. 5sen per MB X 500MB = RM25. Compared to RM10 + RM28 = RM38. 111 |

Bonus Discounts mentioned in *118# menus
Must read the availabilty notes and show to the staff at vendor. Many times both U-Mobile counter staff and vendor staff don't know. E.g. Kenny Rogers: UM staff said only at KR HQ 1Utama. *118# says any outlet, in 2011. KR staff dunno until insist manager call in to check. Then agreed. Good luck. 111 |

Sorry, I was talking about *118# [6] [4] Bonus [1] Food & Bev PS: Last time only inquired at K Rogers. Just now went to eat something. Another set of staff didn't know anything. Had to repeat -- show phone menu, waiter called manager to confirm with HQ, record UM number, etc. 111 |

QUOTE(jasonhor @ Sep 13 2011, 05:24 PM) hi umobile prepaid with android user, i created an app for android phone. Can also on your home screen, add Shortcut to Contact, even faster. If your App has more buttons to get deeper and bypass the clumsy *118# menus then I'd use it.easier for us to check balance and others. check out here! 111 |

Can the numbers be activated one by one, or only on the same date? Is the UM validity still 90-100 days? Is there any expiry date for yet-to-be used SIMs and Unlimited Internet? E.g. if someone buys 10 numbers he should be able to be on UM for ~1000 days?

What are the charges to a Singapore line that calls a UM number on roaming there?
Data usage there will be deducted from the normal airtime balance but will it affect the 500 of the Unlimited? 111 |

QUOTE(larrytty @ Oct 3 2011, 02:44 AM) TQ already got that. From what I can see, so many rates for Sg to Msia calls, some even free included in plan. Typical high rate is Singtel S$0.31. So total business transaction is over RM1 ? Telcos still raking it in!111 |

QUOTE(ywkwy @ Oct 18 2011, 08:47 PM) based on http://www.u.com.my/prepaid-packages/rate-plan umobile call to umobile is free for every RM reloaded? Seems like I am getting free calls to any carrier. Am I imagining?Does this applied if I reload RM30 a month and spend RM28 in the unlimited prepaid mobile broadband? and get 30 days of free call to another umobile numbers? |

QUOTE(avengers88 @ Oct 25 2011, 04:14 PM) Guys, places like kajang, nilai, does it have 3G connection ? Depends on your usage pattern. I suspect every time you engage 3G for data it's 5 sen even if zero kb used. You might not gain by leaving it on all the time because the system drops then swaps in and out of 2G/Edge unexpectedly, and incoming calls, SMS cause disruptions. Each switch-on is another 5 sen. So RM25 spent might give you far less than 500mb. And btw, 5 cents / mb , so 100 mb = RM5 , 500 mb is RM 25 , isnt it cheaper than the RM28 ? So for those who doesnt exceed 500 mb it's better not to subscribe for the RM28 internet package. QUOTE(dgboy @ Nov 12 2011, 09:45 PM) About the data charging, I suspect the Pay as you Use charging is not so straightforward and they may start charging at each connection. My OS is slow because fully loaded with apps, so the 3G on/off widget is also sometimes slow to respond. Sometimes I don't realize I have switched it a few times until I check balance and lost multiple 5 sen blocks, easily 50 sen, and didn't download anything! ........ Anyone know for sure? 111 |

Is the MNP process any different if I am already on U-M and have a U-M SIM. Can the number on the existing U-M SIM be changed?

I meant can I continue to use the U-M SIM I already have, MNP over from another carrier, then dump the other telco's SIM? In other words, must I get a new U-M SIM if I already have one?
