Is that a 70C temp I see in your siggy. I dont think you can reach 4Ghz on that temp....maybe you can change to watercooling to hit your 4Ghz dream smile.gif

hmm...  if cooling it's the problem...  how would the thermal cause the fluctuations of the frequency? ...
hmm... when i upping fsb above 240 , the full load temp. is 70c .
but prescott can handles safe temperature range till 80c right?
and again.. , is it possible that thermal causing the fluctuations?
i never heard intel cpu got this feature.

According to the P4 90n datasheet, a 89w P4 (i.e 2.4A like mine) have a maximum Tc of
69C (Tc=the IHS temperature). Get the temperature close to that and thermal throttling will execute. Here are some power ratings and the max Tc.

90W = 69.4C
92W = 70C
94W = 70.6C
96W = 71.1C
98W = 71.7C
100W = 72.3C

But do remember that if you OC your P4 to a higher power ratings, it will still follow its original default max Tc. This is what I can find in the P4 datasheet. Hope people benefit from this. thumbup.gif

it seems my max Tc is around 71-72c ..
but i did "disabled" the Thermal Control in the bios... as shut down the TM1 ..
A quote from the P4 90nm datasheet:

"The duty cycle for the TCC, when activated by the Thermal Monitor, is factory configured and cannot be modified. The Thermal Monitor does not require any additional hardware, software, drivers or interrupt handling routines."

I believe when you disable the TM1 in bios, you are acctually disabling the motherboard own protection system but the cpu protection system is funtioning on its own.

btw, the easytune software from gigabyte also overclocks the PCI, AGP, RAM frequencies as well (do not know 1f it's 1:1 for the ram or not), but i managed to run my RAM from 333 to 400 @ 2.6ghz.

you should lock your agp and pci to get a higher overclock. pci bus is very sensitive to high overclock. your hard disk runs from pci bus. you might get data lost at high pci frequency. overclock using your bios and lock your pci and agp. normally you will only be able to lock agp bus since pci is derived from 1/2 agp bus.

not really satisfied. but if it goes more than 55c will my processor fried or mayb damage? :confused;

as long as throtling does not happen...you are find. when throtling do happen, its the sign of overheated cpu. but lower temp is always better. smile.gif

edit:come to think of it....macam tipu jer...cuz if u look at the back...the clock speed still say 3ghz

this is because MBM5 only read speeds during start-up only. it will not scan the new speed when it is change after that. smile.gif

hi everyone. I am kinda noob here, need ur guys's help. I wonder, in bios, i set my vcore to 1.575V, but when i enter window and detect it with CPU-Z, it is only 1.520V something. When i run SP 2004, it drops to 1.488V. Izzit PSU problem?? I am using Icute 450W...
*
maybe you can tell us your system spec....that will help a lot.

the answer to your problem is, yes it can be your psu. the psu is not good enough to feed all the components in your system thus the voltage drops. you can try checking all your voltage line and tell us the readings.

but there is a chance that your mobo would be at fault too....(it's called vdroop) it is a known problem that certain mobo have a very bad vdroop problems (eg: Asus p4p800). there's also some solution over this vdroop problems that will require you to hard mod your board, thus voiding warranty.

what you can do?? try to change to a better psu (Enermax, Antec, Fortron). if the problem still there you know who to blame smile.gif

the problem is i dono how to masuk my asus mobo's bios mode sweat.gif press F8 when loading? sweat.gif

omg...you really need a lot of reading man. you dont even know how to enter the bios. i suggest you start reading the pin-ups and google for extra material before you do something foolish and destroy your precious hardware.
btw, P4 805D is a good overclocker smile.gif

this is a sign that your AGP/PCI speed is not properly lock. what mobo u're using?
