Nice info you got there.
Haven't really had much thoughts of going on the pill cause I'm hopeless with taking pills regularly and was afraid of all the hormones and side effects.

But it sounds quite safe now. Was thinking of taking BCP to clear my pimples as well. Do you think it will work? Probably should visit a gynae soon. biggrin.gif

I'm on the pill myself and so far, the only side effect I've been experiencing is the breakthrough bleeding ... which I suspect is due to the antibiotics I took for a week about a month ago. I am also on the 3-month regiment, meaning I am on one pack for 3 months.

I don't know if it will work for clearing pimples, but I do know some of my friends went on some sort of medication. I personally think if your skin is oily, you'll get pimples whether you're on your period or not. I still have a couple pimples here and there, but my skin agrees with the weather around here.
*
I see. I have a lot to learn about the pills. Previously I just thought eat the pills daily and that's it. But then it seems it will affect the menstrual cycle as well eh.

My pimples are from hormones and congested skin. Doctors have been telling me even how clean my skin is also will get pimple cause it's hormones. -.-

The information I provided above is about the monthly pack, which is cheaper (my pack cost $75, for 3 months while the monthly pack costs $10 a month in the USA). I don't know how much it costs in Malaysia, as I've never asked for birth control in Malaysia. I also think that it's pretty ridiculous that someone can get over-the-counter birth control pills? Shouldn't that stuff be regulated? It's hormones that affect your body!
*
I don't think we can get BCP over the counter here in Malaysia. The last I check, they were distributing brochurs at the private hospital I was visiting. So I assume we could only get it from hospitals thru the gynae.

Still deciding whether should go on the pills or not. My menstrual cycle is quite regular I would say. And I know when I'm ovulating because there would be noticeable changes to my body, discharge and occasionally I get ovulation pain. Shall probably stick back to condoms at the moment. Thanks for the info though. laugh.gif

i never think of her like that...

there's other option though..using Billing Method smile.gif

That's not reliable.
If she doesn't mind having an unwanted baby then let her be. Or else you be responsible and wear a condom whether she likes it or not.

Unless you also don't mind being an unprepared father la.

that's understandable, but there is tons of research material out there that already shows that bc does not affect ability to have children.
*
Some people just wouldn't open up their minds and listen to others opinion before they shut everyone else's opinions including research and published articles. What to do. unsure.gif

what the hell is the billing method?

I had to google to find out what it was either. tongue.gif

Morning after pills is only for Emergency. I wouldn't take it on a regular basis.

I don't think taking the pills for short period of time is recommended. Anyway, spunkberry has all the info and first hand experience on this topic. I'm still not on the pills yet. Still sticking to condom at the moment.

Spunkberry, I notice quite a number of people asking about ECP here.
Just for their info, there's a whole thread about ECP in H&F section. I think it should go into the first few posts so people will be directed there as there's tons of info on ECP there. wink.gif

Im going to vacation with my bf. So i plan to get some birth control pills and i never bought it before. Which bcp is better? Emergency pills or 21 days pills? Can i get it in guardian or watson pharmacy? And which brand won't makes you gain weight? Im newbie in this field, please help....
*
Why would you need birth control pills (or emergency contraceptive pills, I think you got them mixed up) to go on a vacation with your bf? Use condom.

Emergency contraceptive pills (ECP) - https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/176435
It's not the same as birth control pills.

Use condoms.

yea but those brand represent different contents... what i meant is that.

microgyn - ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel, wonder why my doctor give me this

instead of dianette (cyproterone acetate and ethinylestradiol) or Yaz (Drospirenone and Ethinyl Estradiol) , which many dermatologist used for treating adult acne
*
Your gynae prescribe you BCP for adult acne? I doubt 1 month is enough to see results.

I was prescribe Diane35 for a small cyst and hormonal acne. Gynae told me need about 6 months to a year. Didn't really like the idea of taking BCP for acne cause I've heard many will get their acne back after they stop, so I took for 3 months. Acne got much much better after the 2nd month or so. So far acne not as bad as before but the scars are recovering slowly. Switched to omega-3 supplement and lifestyle changes for the acne.

So I have hormone imbalance, and thinking to start birth control pills to control my hormones(seen from Internet that birth control can help arrange hormone back to normal)

I am 18, with regular period every month. I read a post about the pills already but which one do I take? Also I also have some acne problems on chin due to hormones too. Hopefully birh control can treat it also smile.gif
*
There already is an existing topic on BCP, which I've merged your thread into.

What makes you say that you have hormone imbalance if you have regular period every month?

When I had hormone imbalance, my period was not regular. Doctor prescribe BCP for me to regulate the hormones. I'm also having very bad hormonal acne on chins which also spread to the cheeks now, BCP did help quite a bit but once stop, it comes back. I was prescribe Diane35.

this might be a lil off topic but do u feel one sided ovary pain during ovulation ?  cry.gif  cuz mine hurt like hell today and i was spot a lil brown discharge
*
Yup it's normal. Can be common in some girls.

Ovulation pain, Google it up. Used to have them on and off. Brown discharge also normal during ovulation.

But there was once early this year where I had very terrible pain and cramps in one side and bleeding was much more than spotting. It was like heavy menstruation flow already and lasted for 2-3 days. Went to gynae for check up but she scan say nothing. Hormones went haywire after that, unstable menstrual cycle, pimples popping out like nobody business, went back to gynae, scan and found a small cyst in the ovary. So if your pain still persist, go see a gynae just for a check up.

My girlfriend period is not coming yet, already delay for 2 week, well i am worry that my girlfriend get pregnant. I want to be responsable if she get pregnant. But she dont want to have baby since we are just 19yo and we are going for further study. She dont want to let her parent know this problem, and as we has discuss, she is agree to take birthday control pills. Is there any pills to induce her period? Where can i get it? Is there any side effect from the pills? Does the pills will effect our future? Need advice in hurry, Thank you in advance.

You will have to do a pregnancy test first.

No birth control pills can help you now if she is pregnant. And pills to induce a miscarriage are not available over the counter. Go see a Gynae.

off topic: safe or not sex without using condom based on period calculation days, 2~3 days before period comes have sex ?
*
Nothing is 100% safe unless it's no sex at all.

Lower risk but it doesn't protect you from STDs and it's not 100% you will not get pregnant.

QUOTE(donghoejin @ Jun 5 2016, 03:20 PM)
hello there,

im planning to visit my gf soon. it will be a month long visit. needless to say, we will be getting intimate. we have been using condoms and would like to add pills as a added protection.

My question is probably a question everyone here asked already, which is what do i start with ? brand wise or pill wise , the 21 day or 28 day long pill or just using morning after pills everytime we do it.

I hope my question dont get dismissed by asking me to ask a GYN. the place she works doesnt have the worlds best healthcare professionals, so were a little sceptical as to their competency, also the language barrier.

so, would like to maybe get them here in malaysia, preferably over the counter, and bring it over, what brands of pills do i ask for.

Now i know you guys probably dont want to take any responsibility by giving misinformation, thus the "ask your doctor" approach. but a lil information would definitely go a long way for me... please and thank you

Im trying to be responsible, so i hope you guys can help me, after all this is a forum right ? hahaha  innocent.gif

BCP doesn't work like *snap your fingers* immediately. It will take some time, so it's best if your girlfriend can source it from there instead.

Also, be aware that the first month or so, the body will take some time to adjust to the pills. I was bleeding for the whole of the first month when I first took BCP. Gynae told me it's normal as we all react differently to the pill.

Condoms, imo, is good enough.
