When I first started I was on Cerazette. GP didn't want to prescribe me with the combination pills because I have frequent migranes. Cerazette was horrible - I had terrible mood swings (my poor boyfriend got the brunt of it tongue.gif) and I was spotting everyday for more than a month. Then I changed to Noriday. So far no adverse side effects although I still bleed every month on it... Although I'm not sure if my weight gain is due to Noriday so I'm thinking of stopping it for a month (it's summer holidays now so I won't see my boy until September) and starting it again a few weeks before I'm due to fly back to the UK. My question is: If I start my pills again not on the first or fifth day of my cycle, how long do I have to use condoms for? Here you said 7 days but my instruction leaflet said two days is sufficient. I just want to make sure so I can time my pill taking right.

Also, how did anyone parents react when they found out that you became active? My mum blew up like a volcano after she found out that I was active with my LONG TERM boyfriend.. When I tried to reassure her that no, I won't get pregnant because I was using condoms and the pills as well it was as if WWIII broke out... She kept saying how I have disappointed her and where did she go wrong with raising me etc. by taking those vile medication because I will be rendered infertile and it will mess up my body and told me to stop taking it and stop having sex immediately sweat.gif I swear she wants me to end up preggers because relying on condoms is far far more unreliable than the pills and I don't even pay a single cent for contraceptives because it's free in the UK! Gosh! Any ideas on how to deal with her?

And yes, I do agree that Malaysians should be educated on BC matters. If society was different my mum wouldn't react like what she did. Before I went to the UK, I did not even know that BC could control acne breakouts or regulate PMT. Of all BC, I think condoms are the most inefficient method and yet it's more accepted than pills. Don't even get me started trying to explain the patch/injection to my mum because I think I'll get disowned lol..

Condoms have a 97% rate, compared to the pill's 99%. These numbers do not take into account human error. So no, condoms are not far less reliable. You just have to be proactive in checking for leakages so you are able to get the Plan B pill in case there are problems. The pill is the same - if you don't take it at exactly the same time every day, you are also at risk. Condoms don't affect your hormones, that's why people prefer it. Penakut, that's all.

My parents never found out. I don't even know why you told her or how she was even able to find out if you didn't say anything. Your sex life is none of anybody else's business.

Ah okay. Well it was partly my fault as my mum kept bugging me if I had done it with my boyfriend. One day I got so frustrated and I just said yes. It seems to my mum that my sex life is her business :/
