QUOTE(owc @ Apr 18 2011, 05:51 PM) PPS also consume bandwidth, as well as streaming. But if you play online game, unifi would be better latency if Fiber Optic Connection plus very good upload speed. This is true , I should provide comparison between UniFi and Streamyx later on for the guys to compare

For those who are still using the ugly stock router , here are some tips on making it somewhat stable
1. Disable Firewall (yep , both SPI inbound and outbound) I've found that that by disabling the firewall , the router runs faster and heavy downloads no longer causes it to hang. However it comes with a heavy cost - being naked in the Internet. Software Firewall can come into play such as Zone Alarm
2. Disabling 802.11n and making it 802.11b/g only 802.11n just does not work well at all. Ive noticed that some of my ancient devices such as my Palm handheld (it only has a 802.11b card) does not work with the router at all (despite setting it to WEP). After making it 802.11b/g , things are just bit faster when connecting from WiFi
These are just some tips. I highly recommend you turning off the crappy firewall. Its just horrible

QUOTE(gahkin @ Jun 4 2011, 03:07 PM) haiz, then no choice Your parents willing to make the extra $$$ if they want to route it. Just ask the contractor do it , again you'll be charged extra. If drilling is not your thing , stick with Streamyx VDSL2 is not going to work for you , for landed property its FTTH
