I dont quite agree that hard cap will make unifi smoother. That is a super good excuse not to upgrade their networks...

QUOTE How would you know they did not upgrade their network? Care to share facts? If you were tm after implementing the hard caps, would you still continuously upgrade the networks(in terms of quality and speed)? I really highly doubt it.Probably will just leech us dry before even considering doing so. Lack of real competition is also another shitty thing in bolehland. |

QUOTE friend, speed comes with a price... it would not be fair if everybody only paying a little and consume 1TB of bandwidth a month... I'm pretty sure rm149 gets me way more bandwidth than 60gb(which is already overpriced with us discussing on this forum).Anyways we will have to see how this plays out.wireless broadband providers have better competition, and yet all of them implemented bandwidth cap...(even when most of them ride on TM's backbone at a very discounted price).... networks will always be upgraded, it can be capacity upgrade (say more unifi users), it can be technology upgrade... so bottom line is, you can't doubt what you don't know for sure.... most of us can only speculate...only some of us knows what's really going on... |

A lot of countries are starting to move away from download caps(still got a bit of FUP to control heavy users) and i see no reason why we cannot do so.
Is it really so hard to let me surf the net without caps? |

Confirm that night time peak hour there is a slow down of speed(OUG).This could be due to many people using thus congesting the ports or unofficially capping on peak hours.Darn it.
Just me 2 cents. |

QUOTE Had a meeting with TM management last Friday. Their installation is now backlog till July-August already. They are struggling to meet the demand. I think Unifi is really doing well in terms of number of customers. Sad part is TM is only giving out installation contract to Malay (Bumi). So much for 1Malaysia |

QUOTE My advice to future subscribers. Do not sign up. The speed would seem all fine. Then it starts going downhill after 2 or 3 months, where you get 700kb/s of download speed on speedtests on a VIP20 account. They're biting more than they can chew. I'm sure it is not everyone that is affected.Could be really due to some migration of platform.Anyone can confirm? |

QUOTE Seriously dude have you ever worked as a customer service representative over the phone? Because if you have, you would know that they're almost powerless in most cases. Call them, annoy them, pester them, it's fine. But if you think swearing or as you say F* them is going to speed up the process, you really need to think again. A better solution will be to get them to patch you through to their managers or supervisors. No point wasting your time on those phone operators because you might as well go swear at the mirror. Blame the board of directors of TM if you want to |

QUOTE anyone who's house is lightning prone tried leaving their Unifi connected during a thunderstorm and survived it? Very little chance of getting burned equipment as we are using fiber optics but power supply still got some chance of happening. |

Would be great if someone can make a comparison and pros and cons between the tp link and asus router.
Does the asus download manager for torrent support download only or both downloading and seeding(uploading)? Can use a usb hub to expand the usage of the usb port? Is the wireless range of the asus router comparable to the tp link router? This post has been edited by Neptern: May 29 2011, 09:04 PM |

QUOTE You can use a USB hub, but a powered hub is preferred to prevent over-drawn power from the router. I'm more interested in RT-16N with 2 USB port and 300k connection session ability. RT-16N looks awesome and hope to see a custom unifi firmware for it if possible someday.Definitely suitable for heavy users. The RT-N13U has internal antenna so will be be weaker than external antenna a bit or by a wide margin? This post has been edited by Neptern: May 30 2011, 12:17 AM |
